The 1-Up Mushroom is a mushroom that gives the player a 1up when touched. It appears in Super Mario Galaxy, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. In Super Mario Galaxy, 1-Up Mushrooms are usually found hidden in places such as under a planet and obviously give Mario/Luigi a 1-Up when touched. 1-Up Mushrooms are also usually earned by collecting all Rainbow Notes after touching a Question Coin. Also, the player can buy a 1-Up Mushroom for 30 Star Bits at the Luma Shop. Lumalee, who owns the Luma Shop, will then transform into the 1-Up Mushroom after it is purchased. A total of five 1-Up Mushrooms can be found hidden in the Comet Observatory, so do some searching soldier! 1-Up Mushrooms in New Super Mario Bros. Wii are quite uncommon items, as compared to the rest, however, they can usually be found hidden in blocks such as Question Blocks or Brick Blocks. They will travel away and must be collected fast enough before they land in a trap. 1-Up Mushrooms appear once again as hidden items in Super Mario Galaxy 2. They are found hidden in galaxies and even on Starship Mario. However, the main difference between 1-Up Mushrooms in SMG and SMG 2 is that the amount of 1-Up Mushrooms earned is much greater than in Super Mario Galaxy. One can usually earn about three 1-Up Mushrooms (that are stationary and do not move, unlike the ones in New Super Mario Bros. Wii) for collecting all the Rainbow Notes after touching a ? Coin. A maximum of five 1-Up Mushrooms can be earned after Spinning a Chance Cube (even though one or three 1-Up Mushrooms can also be earned). Once again, 1-Up Mushrooms can be purchased from the Luma Shop. 1-Up Mushrooms make a small, minor appearance in Mario Kart Wii. They only appear being sold in a shop in Coconut Mall along with other Items. The shop is in a hidden shortcut. 1-Up Mushrooms also make a small appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The 1-Up Mushroom only appears as a collectible Sticker that improves Leg Attack + 4 when used.
