Peach in the Battleship Halberd Exterior near the end.

The Battleship Halberd Exterior is the twenty-fourth level of The Subspace Emissary. It is a quite short level. The Battleship Halberd Exterior is in the middle when it comes to the length of all Battleship Halberd levels. It is shorter than the Battleship Halberd Interior, but longer than the Battleship Halberd Bridge. The level features large gates with construction markings that move, damaging blue flames that are either turned on by a switch, or turn on automatically, Wind, and a display room in the middle of it. Although its name is "Battleship Halberd Exterior", the Battleship Halberd Exterior has an inside part. It probably gets its name because only two thirds of it is outside while the other third is inside.

Plot

The level follows the events of the Battleship Halberd Interior. When played for the first time, the first cutscene plays, showing Peach and Zelda that Snake left them in, although they have been told not to. Zelda, however, transforms into Sheik for the duration of the level (although re-transformation is possible when playing the level). After most of the level, the duo find themselves on the Battleship Halberd's deck, standing near the Combo Cannon. Suddenly, Fox's Arwing flies overhead, and fires at and destroys the Combo Cannon. However, Peach was very close to the Combo Cannon and covered her head with a small scream. Not knowing what Fox's intentions were, Sheik teleports up onto the front of the Arwing, punching a hole in the glass, making Fox lose control of it. Fox and Sheik then both fall onto the Battleship Halberd's deck and start to fight. Peach makes a sound, and both combatants turn to look at her. She holds a cup of tea to Fox, who in confusion looks at Sheik. However, Sheik is already drinking tea herself. Fox accepts the tea and the group sits down. After that Peach, Sheik, and Zelda join your team.

Walkthrough

When the level begins, the player will land on a platform outside the Halberd with strong winds pushing the player. The player should jump on a lower platform. Here, the player should jump onto another platform to the right. Here, the player should jump to a higher platform or a lower platform. If the player takes the upper (higher) platform he must first jump on the higher platform, then jump on a platform to the right beneath it. From there, he must jump to a platform beneath it slightly to the left. Taking the lower platform, the player must first jump to the lower platform, and from there, jump to the second platform the player jumps on if he took the upper route (which is to the right). Here, the player can either jump to a platform beneath him to his right, or drop through the platform, and land on a platform beneath it, then jump to this platform. Here, an orange arrow is pointing right. The player should run to the other side of the platform and jump to a platform above him to his right. On this platform, the player should jump on a platform above him to his right. Here, the player should jump and double jump to a platform above him to his right. Here, the player should run to the other side of the platform, and jump on a platform beneath him to his right. Here, the player should jump on a platform to his right. Here, the player should run to the other side and jump to a platform above him to his right. Here, the player should cautiously jump to a narrow platform beneath him to his right. Now, the player should jump to a platform above him to his right. Here, the player should jump to a platform beneath him to his right with a Door. The Door is only red because of the red clouds and wind that the Battleship Halberd is going through. Here, the player should enter the "red" Door. The player will be in a room with an orange arrow pointing right. The player should run forward until he encounters two Mites and a Quark Mine near a higher part of floor; the Quark Mine, in which, is hovering up and down. After the Mites are defeated, if the player has a fire attack, he should use it on the Quark Mine to destroy it. If not, the player has no choice but to touch it. At the higher part of floor, the player should notice a yellowish brown (or what you could say "rusty") platform above him. The player should jump, double jump, and up-special here. Up here, the player will see a small alley to his left with a pink switch, a Quark Mine above the player, and also, a yellowish brown (or rusty) platform. The player should jump into the small alley on his left and hit the pink switch to make a blue flame destroy the Quark Mine from a hole to the Quark Mine's right. DON'T JUMP JUST YET!! That blue flame is dangerous and damages the player like the Quark Mine. Because of that, the player should wait for the blue flame to stop and deactivate. Now, he must jump to a yellowish brown (or rusty) platform, and then jump to a floor above him to his right. Three Mites and a switch on the ceiling are here. After the Mites are defeated, the player should look right to find a Scope Primid at the end of the floor near a wall with two yellowish brown (or rusty) platforms and a Quark Mine above it. After it is defeated, the player should hit the switch on the ceiling to make five blue flames activate and destroy the Quark Mines: four flames on the left, and one flame on the right). After the flames are deactivated, the player can either take the left or right route. If he takes the left route, he should run to the edge of the floor to the left where he jumped to get here, and jump to a yellowish brown (or rusty) platform to the left above the player. Here, the player should jump to a small alley above him, this time, with no switch, unlike the previous one. This alley is on the player's left. Here, the player should jump to a floor with a Turquoise Cube. However, when the player jumps here, he will find a Quark Mine and three Turquoise Cubes not one! If the player takes the route to the right (right route) he should run to the wall and jump on a yellowish brown (or rusty) platform above him to his right touching a wall. Here, the player should jump to a yellowish brown (or rusty) platform above him to his left that is touching the wall on the left. Now the player can either jump on a yellowish brown (or rusty) platform above him to his right and then jump to the floor with the three Turquoise Cubes or jump straight up to the floor with the Turquoise Cubes. When doing so, two Turquoise Cubes are in view. Anyway, on this floor, the player should try to destroy the Quark Mine there (if you have no fire attack, let it touch you, but shield when it does; it will be destroyed), and then bust open the Turquoise Cubes. One will give the player a Heart Container, another an item, and the last a Trophy or two Stickers. After the items have been used/collected the player should fall back to the floor with the two routes leading to the floor with the Turquoise Cubes and switch on the ceiling. Now, the player should run to the left edge and fall back to the floor with the first two Mites and first Quark Mine. If done correctly the player will be on the floor with the two Mites and higher part of floor, and a yellowish brown (or rusty) platform should be above the player. Two Mites will meet and attack the player. After they are defeated, the player should jump on the higher part of floor. A Quark Mine moving over an even higher part of floor from side to side will come into view. When it is not above the player, the player should jump on the higher part of floor. Now, he can either attack the Quark Mine with a fire attack, fall to the lower part of floor before the Quark Mine gets too close, or let the Quark Mine touch the player while he shields and be destroyed. Now, the player should fall to the lower part of floor (the part of floor you'd be on if you did the second option listed above. If you performed the second option listed above, don't move when it said "fall to the lower part of floor"). Here, the player should fall to a floor (you can move now). He will see a Quark Mine moving up and down. When the Quark Mine is moving up, the player should run to the other side of it to find another Quark Mine moving up and down. Four Mites will near the player, and soon, a Poppant is also seen slowly approaching the player, but will soon run away in sight of the player. After the Mites are defeated, the player should ignore the Quark Mine. DON'T DESTROY OR TOUCH IT! Instead, the player should stand next to it (on either side of it; side on the right will work best) and jump. He should notice a weird crack in the ceiling. The player cannot destroy the ceiling by attacking it although it responds to attacks with the attack flash. That means there is another way to destroy it. Follow these steps carefully. When the Quark Mine nears the ceiling, the player should quickly jump and touch the Quark Mine (which destroys it) to destroy the ceiling. The ceiling will break, leaving pieces of its broken self on the floor in the background and revealing an Orange Cube. The player should jump and bust open the Orange Cube with an aerial attack. Now the player should collect its collectible (s) and move on. The remains of the broken ceiling remain on the floor forever. Anyway, a Mite will near the player. After it is defeated, the player should move on to find a Scope Primid. The Poppant that ran away earlier is nowhere to be seen. After the Scope Primid is defeated, the player should run back to the broken ceiling to find another Scope Primid. After it is defeated, the player should turn around and run right until he reaches a gap infested with Quark Mines. A Quark Mine moving side to side will near the player. The player should destroy it with a fire attack, or let it touch him while he shields. When it is destroyed, the player should jump and double jump to reach a floor extending out of the wall with a Turquoise Cube. While doing so, the player should avoid a Quark Mine. Anyway, up here, the player should bust open the Turquoise Cube. It should give the player a Stock Ball (something else on higher difficulties). After the Stock Ball is used, the player should fall back to the floor, in which, he used to get here. Here, the player should jump to a yellowish brown (or rusty) platform to his right beneath him. Here, avoiding the Quark Mines, the player should jump to a platform beneath him to his right. Here, beneath the player is a falling block bridge over a gap. Do NOT fall here! If so, you may fall to your death, unless you can quickly save yourself. Anyway, here, the player should jump to a platform to his right above him. Here, the player should jump to a floor beneath him; sticking out of the wall with a Turquoise Cube to his right. While jumping, a Scope Primid on the floor should start shooting at you (if it noticed you). Anyway, on that floor, the player should bust open the Turquoise Cube. It should give the player two Maxim Tomatoes. After they have been used, the player should jump to a platform above him. Here, the player should jump to the floor, and defeat the Scope Primid. After the Scope Primid is defeated, the player should notice a switch on the ceiling. The player should hit the switch. Now, the player should quickly jump over a large gap and move under an about-to-soon-close gate with construction markings before it crushes the player. Although there are platforms in the gap, ignore them, for they have nothing. At the other side of the closing gate, the player should run right to find a Door. The player should enter the Door. Inside, the player is in a room with absolutely no music. The only noises heard are the player's movements and his/her voice, the noise of a Door opening (the player must enter a Door to hear this), and a noise coming from the room. The player is in the display room. Enemies here are trapped in glass cages, although not every one of them is in a glass cage. The player should move to find a Poppant in an upper glass cage trapped and a Buckot trapped in a lower one beneath the Poppant and the player. Next, (the player should move while watching the enemies) is a Nagagog in an upper glass cage and a Scope Primid in a lower one beneath the Nagagog and the player. Next, is a Roader in an upper glass cage and an Autolance in a lower one beneath the Roader and the player. Next is a Primid in an upper glass cage and Mizzo in a lower one beneath the Primid and the player. What an enemy Mizzo is! Next, is a Cymul in an upper glass cage and a Fire Primid in a lower one beneath the Cymul and the player. Now, the player should run to and enter the nearby Door. The player will enter a forced battle against Primids, Scope Primids, Puppits and a Greap on a long platform with four green platforms in midair: two over the platform, two over the gap beneath the platform. The gap is beneath the platform, not the green platforms over the gap). After the enemies are defeated, the player should run right and jump on the green platform over the gap. Now the player should fall to a long platform. A Feyesh will near the player. After it is defeated, the player should run to the edge of the platform and jump to the floor. Two Feyeshes will near the player. After they are defeated, the player should run a little until he is near a higher part of floor to his right, and a platform with a Turquoise Cube is above him to his left. The player should jump to this platform with the Turquoise Cube. Here, the player should bust open the Turquoise Cube. It should give the player Food. After the food has been eaten (used), the player should jump to the higher part of floor to his right. Here, the player should notice a Turquoise Cube on a floor beneath the player to his right. The player should fall here and bust open the Turquoise Cube. It will give the player two Stickers or a Trophy. After the collectible (s) have been collected, the player should jump on a higher part of floor to his right, and fall to the floor beneath it to his right. Two Mites are here. After they are defeated, a third Mite will fall here. After it is defeated, the player should jump to a higher part of floor and fall to the floor on the other side of it. Here, the player will battle a Greap. Surprisingly and strangely, this Greap only uses its "spinning scythes" attack regardless if the player is in midair or on the ground. This attack is only used if the player is in midair. After the Greap is defeated, the player should run to a higher part of floor and jump on it. Now, the player should fall to the other side to find a Turquoise Cube. Four Mites and a Buckot will near the player. After the enemies are defeated, the player should bust open the Turquoise Cube. It will give the player an item. After the item is collected/ignored, the player should move right to find a blue flame. The player should wait for the blue flame to stop and run over its hole. The player should be quick, for it reactivates very quickly. A Buckot will try to near the player, but will get defeated by a blue flame (this is after you crossed the blue flame's hole). Here, the player must wait for the blue flame to stop. When it does, the player should quickly run over its hole. Now, the player will confront more blue flames. When it stops, the player should jump over it. Now, he will reach a higher part of floor with blue flames. When the flames stop, the player should jump over the higher part of floor. A Buckot will near the player and a moving gate with construction markings and blue flames is to the player's right. After the Buckot is defeated, another one will try to near the player and so will a Mite. After the enemies are defeated by you or the blue flames, the player should wait for the blue flames to stop. When it does, the player should run or jump over the moving gate depending on if it is high or low. Now, the player will face another moving gate with blue flames and construction markings. A Mite will try to get to the player. After it is defeated, the player should wait for the blue flames to stop and run/jump over it. Now, the player should run until he shortly reaches a gap with blue flames in the middle. The player should wait for the blue flames to stop and jump on the blue flame's hole, then to the floor to the player's right quickly. Four Mites will fall. After they are defeated, the player should notice two ENORMOUS gates with construction markings that are coming together from the floor and ceiling, and colliding into each other. They then will open back up. When they open up, they'll reveal a Door. The player should quickly jump on the lower gate and jump to enter the Door. The player should enter the Door. The player will be back outside on a platform, once again, with Wind blowing, but pushing the player to the right. The player should jump to a platform on his right. Here, he should jump to a platform above him to his right. Here, there is an upper platform and a lower platform. The player should ignore the lower platform and jump on the upper platform. Now the player should jump to a platform, to his right above him. Here, the player should jump, double jump, and up-special to a platform above him to his left carefully, for the wind is pushing the player away from the platform. This platform has an Orange Cube. The player should bust open the Orange Cube and collect its collectible (s). Now the player should jump back to the platform he used to jump here. Here, the player should see a platform beneath him to his right. He should jump here and run to the other side of it. Now, the player should jump onto a platform above him on his right. Here, the player should jump to a platform above him slightly to his right. Now, the player should jump, double jump, and up-special (if needed) to jump onto a slightly narrow platform above the player to his left. Now, the player should jump to a platform above the player to his right. Here, the player should jump, double jump, and up-special (if needed) to get to a platform to the player's right. Here, the player should jump to a platform above the player to his right. Here, the player should notice that there is no Goal Door but the golden rays of it. The player should run to the other side of the platform to complete the level.

Trivia

  • Mizzo only appears in this level.
  • It is believed that in the display room, Meta Knight had captured the enemies and placed them in the display room, studied for weaknesses before the events of The Subspace Emissary.
  • Even in the first playthrough, the player can choose to play as Zelda via Transform, despite the cutscenes picturing Sheik instead.
