Blasting Through the Sand

463-1-

Mario near the Power Star of "Blasting Through the Sand".

Mario will land on the Starting Planet. He must defeat a few Pokey Sprouts and a Pokey to create a Launch Star. Mario will land on the Ring Planet. Mario should jump on a platform then to another. Then he should jump on the wooden ring while avoiding the Boulders rolling on the same ring as the player. Then the player should take the Sling Star on a platform in the middle of the ring to the first Fast Sand Planet. Mario should ride down the sand until he reaches a rock with a Sling Star. He should take the Sling Star to the second Fast Sand Planet. Mario should ride down the sand and collect five blue Star Chips on the sand. Each time he reaches a rock, Mario should position himself in a different direction such as left, right, or middle to collect the remaining Star Chips. One rock has a Green Shell, which Mario should carry with him along the sand until he reaches a rock with a Treasure Chest. Mario should throw the shell at the Treasure Chest to collect the Star Chip inside. When all five Star Chips are collected, a trail of Pull Stars will appear that take Mario to the third and final Fast Sand Planet when used. Here, Mario will land on a rock with a green arrow (left) and orange arrow (right). The player can take either direction. When he chooses one, the player should jump from rock platform to rock platform over the sand until he reaches a Launch Star. When he does, he should use it. It will take him to the Maze Planet. Mario will land on the yellowish-tan side. Mario should run into the hole in the middle of the part of floor he is on in front of him. He will run to the other side which is blue. Mario should run right (the path to the Power Star is in front of him), jumping on platforms and avoiding the Tweesters and Dry Bones until he reaches another part of floor with a hole. Mario should go through the hole back to the yellowish-tan side and run left. Mario should avoid the Tweesters until he reaches three pillars. Mario should climb them to the third and highest pillar to find a switch. Mario should Ground Pound the switch. The pillars will fall to the other side. A tick tock is heard, meaning Mario must get to the Power Star quickly. Mario must run back to the blue side where he entered here, past the Tweesters on the blue side, and back to where he first was when he first went to the blue side. Thn, Mario should run north onto the Power Star's path and climb the pillars. At the third and highest pillar, Mario must jump to get his Power Star.

Sunbaked Sand Castle

656-1-

Mario near the Power Star of 'Sunbaked Sand Castle".

Mario will land on a planet with an orange switch. He should Ground Pound the switch. Several Bricks connected together (much like brick rectangular prisms) will fall from the sky. A Cluckboom will fire bombs near the player. The player should avoid/ignore the Cluckboom and move different directions to avoid being squished by the falling brick prisms. Mario may miss certain items that are falling such as Star Bits and Life Shrooms. Mario should keep dodging the falling brick prisms until a Launch Star appears, also falling. Mario should take it to the Disk Planets. Here, Mario will find himself on a planet with Dry Bones and a switch in front of him and across the planet. Mario should Ground Pound a switch. A tower, which was not there before, will rise from the ground. Mario will see some Star Chips. When the tower rises, Mario must find and collect all five yellow Star Chips. They require skills to reach. One Star Chip is in a low part of the tower, blocked by four Dry Bones. Mario must Spin the Dry Bones to reach it. Another Star Chip is in a part of the tower which Mario must Wall-Jump to get. A third Star Chip is in a Treasure Chest on a high part of the tower. Mario must find a Green Shell on the floor and Wall-Jump up where he found the second Star Chip, this time to the top. At the top, Mario will find a Koopa Troopa. He should ignore the Koopa and run left. He should fall down. He will most likely land on the Treasure Chest or the the part it is on. Mario should throw the Green Shell at the chest to get the Star Chip. A fourth Star Chip alos requires going to the top of the tower. Mario should, once again, Wall-Jump up the tower. At the top, Mario should run north and fall. He will land on a Question Block, which will give him a Star Chip. The final Star Chip is somewhere else on the planet. After all Star Chips are collected, a Launch Star will appear at the top of the tower. Mario should climb the tower to the top and take the Launch Star to the Moving Sand Planet. Here, Mario will find a bunch of Crabbers, Coconuts and a big Spiky Plant. Mario should defeat the Crabbers and move a Coconut near the Spiky Plant. Mario should then Spin the Coconut into the Spiky Plant to defeat it, making a Launch Star appear. Mario should take it to the Pokey Planets. Mario will land on the northern planet. He should move north. A Pokey will appear. Mario should run to the other side (bottom) of the planet to find a Sling Star. Mario should take the Sling Star to the southern Pokey Planet. He will find tons of Coconuts here. Mario should Spin a Coconut onto the northern Pokey Planet. Then he should take the Sling Star to the northern Pokey Planet and Spin the Coconut into the Pokey. After it is defeated, a Launch Star will appear. Mario should take it to the Glass Tower Planet. Mario should enter the glass tower. Sand will start filling up inside it. Bullet Bill On Your Back

316-1-3

Mario leading a Bullet Bill to the Power Star.

This level is a hidden Power Star. Mario must replay the "Sunbaked Sand Castle" mission and make his way to the Moving Sand Planet. Instead of defeating the Spiky Plant, Mario should Ground Pound a log to make Rainbow Notes appear. Mario should collect all Notes to make a Launch Star appear. It will take Mario to the second Disk Planet. A Bullet Bill Blaster is here. Mario should Ground Pound the blue switch here to make a brick tower rise from the ground carrying the Bill Blaster with it. Several cages will appear, one having the Power Star inside. However, the problem is that Mario cannot get a Bullet Bill's attention. Mario should stand on top of the orange switch, also here, and perform a backflip when a Bullet Bill is launched, which will make it chase Mario. Mario should run to the cage with the Power Star and go behind it. The Bullet Bill will break the cage. Now, Mario must Ground Pound the orange switch to lower the brick tower and collect his Power Star.
