It is playable in high definition.[4] For Episode I, the iPod Touch/iPhone version was released on 8 October, the Wiiware version was released on October 11, the PSN version was released 12 October and the XBL version was released October 13. In August 23, 2011, head of Sonic Team Takashi Iizuka stated that “this year, 2011, is the anniversary, so we’re focusing on the celebration title, but moving forward to 2012, Sonic will still be going, so I’d hope to provide Episode II then.” He also said that Sonic Team “knew about the anniversary year," and that "Sonic Generations was planned way in advance," therefore "it was always our plan to release Episode II after Generations.” He however stated that they couldn't say whether there would be future episodes after Episode II.
