Flying Question Blocks are items in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Mario Party 9. They are basically Question Blocks with a pair of wings. Using these wings, they fly up and down or side to side. In any of the games (excluding Mario Party 9), if Mario, Luigi or Blue Toad/Yellow Toad (the two Toads only appear as playable characters in New Super Mario Bros. Wii) jump and hit a Flying Question Block, it will give them an Item before becoming a Used Block. In Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2, Flying Question Blocks make chirping noises, which sound similar to those made by real-life birds. They cannot be Ground Pounded. In Super Mario Galaxy 2, Flying Question Birds vanish after being hit instead of turning into a Used Block. In Mario Party 9, a large Flying Question Block appears in the minigame, Growing Up. It will not display a question mark, however, buttons on the Wii Remote will appear in its center. Players must quickly press the buttons on the Wii Remote appearing on the center of the Flying Question Block to raise their Beanstalk. Whoever reaches the top first wins.
