The Kongs duck to avoid touching an Ultra Char-char in Furious Fire.

Furious Fire is the fifty-sixth level of Donkey Kong Country Returns, as well as the first level of the Volcano. The level takes place in a volcano, which is full of Ultra Char-chars that hover around most of the level. They travel in many different directions: some travel up, some travel down, some travel left, some travel right. Because of this, the Kongs (Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong) must carefully maneuver around the Ultra Char-chars, most of which they must duck to avoid. Ultra Char-chars do not move in one path forever, for they will appear, move a certain direction, and then back to where they appeared in a different spot. They also take a while before another Ultra Char-char appears and repeats the pattern the previous made. Despite their huge size, Ultra Char-chars only make the Kongs lose a Heart if touched, and they cannot be defeated. Also, Lava is a very dangerous and common obstacle in this level; one touch defeats the Kongs, causing them to lose an Extra Life Balloon and restart from a checkpoint or the beginning of the level. So to avoid this lava, the Kongs must hop along falling platforms, some basalt platforms and more. Enemies in this level besides Ultra Char-chars, are regular Char-chars, Tiki Goons, Tiki Torches, Tiki Buzzes and Tiki Bombers. In Time Attack mode, a time of 1:40:00 is needed to get a gold medal, a time of 2:01:00 for a silver medal, and a time of 2:11:00 for a bronze medal.

Overview

Furious Fire 1

The Kongs jump on a platform with a Char-char on it right after the part where the beginning floor turns into a floor made of basalt platforms combined together.

The level begins with the Kongs landing on a factory floor. Even though the floor is a factory floor, there is lava underneath it, as well as a palm tree in the background. Well, palm trees aren't in the Factory, so we don't know where that came from. There is a door behind the Kongs however, it is unaccessible. So basically, this floor much resembles the beginning floor of the Factory's seventh level, Music Madness. Anyway, the Kongs can move a bit to find a strange pot-like object on a fire. If the Kongs pound this object, it will spit out some lava , most likely. The Kongs can move a bit more to encounter a Char-char. Since Char-chars bounce up and down, just like the Factory's Pogobots, the same strategy used to avoid Pogobots can be used to avoid Char-chars. So, first of all, if the player senses the Char-char is about to land on the Kongs, they should move backwards a bit. Now, when the enemy jumps again, the Kongs can roll past it. Also, the enemy can be defeated with a blow, unlike a Pogobot, which cannot be defeated at all without some type of Barrel. So, the Kongs could let the Char-char get close enough for them to blow on, causing it to disintegrate (fall apart; reduce to pieces, meaning gotten from thesaurus.com ). Anyway, after the Kongs pass the Char-char, they can move onto a part of the floor that is now made up of many basalt platforms combined together. Another strange, pot-like object can be found right at the border of the factory part of floor and the basalt part of floor. It can be pounded on for a collectible, most likely. Anyway, the Kongs can head forward on the basalt part of floor until they reach its edge. Here, there are some propeller-like objects that can be blown on the cause two molten objects attached to propellers come out of the ground with a collectible attached to it. After the edge of the floor, there is a rock floor with a factory-like platform above it. The factory-like platform has a Char-char on it, as well as a trail of three Bananas. The Char-char does not turn around and bounce the opposite direction when it hits this factory platform's edge. Then wha, wha, what....does....it....do? IT JUMPS RIGHT OFF THE PLATFORM, THAT'S WHAT IT DOES!!! So, if the Char-char makes it onto the basalt platform, the Kongs should head backwards. Then when the enemy jumps up again, the Kongs should quickly roll past it. Also, the Kongs could simply blow it whenever it lands. Anyway, at the end of the rock floor, there is a basalt wall closer in the foreground than anything else (even the Kongs) here. If the Kongs head towards this basalt wall, it moves down, revealing an alcove with a Puzzle Piece. So, basically, it's the factory platform that can help the Kongs proceed. So, the Kongs should jump back on the basalt part of floor and then jump onto the factory platform. Most likely, the Char-char should be gone; if it is not, the Kongs can stay on the rock floor until it jumps off the factory platform and heads down the basalt part of floor. Anyway, the Kongs can head to the right edge of this platform. A rock platform can be seen in the lava ahead, which is right after this basalt wall. Anyway, there is a Tiki Goon, as well as a strange, Tiki-like lantern that can be blown on to blow out its flames and release a collectible, most likely. Anyway, the Kongs can jump down to this rock platform. They can aim to land on the Tiki Goon here, since it can hurt them if they land too close to it on the rock platform. Anyway, here on this rock platform, the apes can see a small gap with an arch of three Bananas above it. On the opposite side of this small gap, which is also after the third Banana in the arch of three Bananas, there is another rock platform with a strange, pot-like object that can be pounded on for a collectible, most likely. The Kongs can jump here. However, an Ultra Char-char appears from the small gap to the right of this next rock platform, heads over it, and then goes into the small gap to the left of this rock platform, which the apes are about to jump over. So, the Kongs should wait for the Ultra Char-char to head into the gap to the left of the next rock platform while they stand on the first rock plaform. When the enemy heads into the gap to the left of the next rock platform, the apes should jump to it. Here, the apes can head to this platform's right edge where
640px-FuriousFire165-1-

The Kongs bounce off of a defeated Tiki Buzz on the rock platform attached to the basalt wall. The basalt wall here is attached to a factory-like platform, as seen in the picture. Also, an Ultra Char-char can be seen coming down from above. It is going to head downwards and to the right, where it will pass by the DK Barrel, also seen in the picture.

they can find a small gap with an arch of three Bananas above it. After this small gap is a long rock platform with three Tiki Buzzes and two molten objects attached to a propeller that can be blown on for a collectible (s), most likely. There is a small basalt wall attached to the end of this long rock floor. It is attached to a factory-like platform with three Bananas on it. Anyway, the Kongs can jump here quickly before the Ultra Char-char comes out of the gap ahead of them. If the enemy does come out the gap before they jump over it, the Kongs should duck, for the Ultra Char-char will head over them and go down into the gap to the left of them. WOOOHH, CAN YOU FEEL THAT HEAT (from the Ultra Char-char)!!! Anyway, the apes can then safely jump to the long rock platform. Here, the Kongs should wait for an Ultra Char-char to come down from above close to the basalt wall and head right. When the enemy heads right, the Kongs should still not make a move. Why? This is because another Ultra Char-char can be seen heading over the factory-like platform. It will then head down right to the left of the basalt wall. When this enemy disappears, the apes can jump to this factory-like platform. Here, the Kongs should move quickly on this factory-like platform and then drop off of it onto a floor made up of basalt platforms. The Kongs will land on a raised part of floor, meaning that there are two lower floors attached to this floor: one on the left and one on the right. There is a molten object attached to a propeller that can be blown on for a collectible, most likely, on the right edge of this raised part of floor. Anyway, if the Kongs head to the lower floor on the left, they can find a DK Barrel. Also, the Kongs will be right beneath the factory-like platform they were just on. However, since the Ultra Char-char that came from above passes this DK Barrel, the Kongs should quickly head away from this lower part of floor. Also, on the raised part of floor, that same Ultra Char-char heads up over it. So, the Kongs should quickly head to the lower floor to the right of the raised platform, ducking/dodging any Ultra Char-chars that are in the way. On the lower floor on the raised platform's right, the Kongs can find a trail of three Bananas, as well as a Char-char. The Char-char is nearing the Kongs. So, the Kongs should head backwards a bit, if they need to (it depends on how far the you are from the Char-char). When the enemy jumps up again, the Kongs should quickly roll past it. They could also wait for the enemy to land on the ground and blow on it (note: they must be close to the Char-char when they blow, otherwise it will not work). Anyway, after the Char-char has been avoided/defeated, the Kongs can head further. They will pass underneath a factory-like platform with the letter K of the K-O-N-G Letters above it. Below this factory-like platform slightly to the right, there is a solid floor with two Tiki Goons and a strange, pot-like object that can be pounded on for a collectible, most likely, on it. Above the strange pot-like object on this solid floor, there is a Banana Coin. Also on this solid floor, is a molten object attached to a propeller that can be blown on for a collectible, most likely, on its left edge, as well as, two more molten objects attached to a propeller on the right edge. Yeah, the Kongs could simply jump to the factory-like platform with the letter K above it. Really? A K-O-N-G Letter being that easy to collect, think again! Well, if you don't like it or not, there is bad news. Yep, THERE IS AN ULTRA CHAR-CHAR THAT HEADS PAST THE LETTER K!!! So, the Kongs should first wait for this Ultra Char-char to head from above to the right of the letter K, and let it pass by. Now, quickly, the Kongs should jump to this factory-like platform before an Ultra Char-char heading over the solid floor hits them. On this factory-like floor, the apes can jump to the letter K. Here, the Kongs can quickly jump to this solid floor. Here, the Kongs should quickly head to this floor's right edge. Here, they can drop down to a lower part of floor. More than half of this lower floor has part of a large hole beneath it. This is where the Ultra Char-char that heads over the solid floor appears. So, the Kongs should quickly move to this lower part of floor's right edge, which does not have part of the large hole beneath it. Above the Kongs on this right edge of the lower part of floor, the Kongs can find a platform attached to a wall. Above that platform is a Puzzle Piece, and to the left of the platform is another, longer platform. Beneath the longer platform, which is also to the right of the Kongs after a small gap, there are three small, basalt platforms. Each platform has a tiny space between it and the next small, basalt platform. On the first small, basalt platform, there is a Tiki-like lantern that can be blown on for a collectible, most likely. Also, since an Ultra Char-char travels over all three of these small, basalt platforms, the Kongs should wait for it to appear to the right of the third small, basalt platform, head over the three platforms and head down into the lava to the left of the first small, basalt platform. When the enemy heads back into the lava, the Kongs can now jump onto the first, small basalt platform. Now from here, the Kongs can then jump to the second, small basalt platform. From here, the apes can then jump to the third small, basalt platform. Here, the Kongs can see a small, solid platform with a Tiki Torch moving left to right on it. Can the apes make it there in time before the Ultra Char-char reappears in front of them? Well, let's answer it with a good reason. That most likely won't be possible without losing a Heart. Yeah, Ultra Char-chars do take a while to reappear and repeat their moving process after they head back out of the screen, however, that does not mean that it takes another 15 seconds for the enemy to reappear here! So, the Kongs should just duck on this third small, basalt platform. The Ultra Char-char will appear from in front of the Kongs, head over them, and back into the lava to the left of the first small, basalt platform. As soon as the Ultra Char-char passes over the Kongs, they can lift their heads and jump to the solid platform with the Tiki Torch on it (when it is not in the way). Here, the Kongs can see another, thinner solid platform above them slightly to the right. The platform holds a Tiki Goon and a strange, pot-like object that can be pounded on for a collectible, most likely, on it, plus the letter O underneath it. Above this thinner solid platform slightly to the left is a longer thinner platform. Hmm, wonder what that platform is for? We'll see in a minute. However, first the apes should blow on the Tiki Torch on the platform. After this has been done, the Kongs should jump on this enemy. This defeats it. Yep, much like attacking Tiki Bombers, who will soon appear too. After the Tiki Torch is gone, the apes can jump to the thinner solid platform when the Tiki Goon is not on the left edge of it.
Furious Fire 2

The Kongs are about to land on the Tiki Goon on the platform with the letter O beneath it. Yep, how do you get the letter O? See the platform next to this platform with the three Bananas? Well, if the Kongs roll into the gap and quickly jump, they can reach the letter O. They can then hover back onto the platform which had the letter O beneath it.

Here, the first thing the apes should do is get rid of the Tiki Goon. But, how do you get rid of a Tiki Goon? WHATTTT!!!! YOU MEAN WE'VE BEEN ENCOUNTERING TIKI GOONS ALL THIS TIME AND YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO GET RID OF ONE!!!! Anyway, too silly, to get rid of a Tiki Goon, one must jump on it. Yep, those enemies are very weak. After the enemy has been defeated, let's now look at the longer, thinner solid platform above us slightly to the left. Well, remember that Puzzle Piece on the platform attached to the wall? Yep, at first, there was no way to get up there. So how do we find a path that leads to it? Well, this is where this longer, thinner solid platform comes into view. If the Kongs jumped here, they can jump to another longer, thinner solid platform located above the three small, basalt platforms. From there, the Kongs can jump to the platform with the Puzzle Piece. Yep, that's how you get it. But is it really that simple? Well, it would've been IF THEY DIDN'T PUT ULTRA CHAR-CHARS TO MOVE TO THE RIGHT ABOVE ALL THOSE PLATFORMS!!! So, the Kongs will have to do some ducking while up there. However, here's a smart idea. After every platform you land on above, you can duck and wait for an Ultra Char-char to pass by. Then you can jump to the next platform and duck & wait for the Ultra Char-char again. After collecting the Puzzle Piece, the Kongs can use these longer, thinner platforms to get back to the platform they came from, which had the Tiki Goon on it. Anyway, we're back onto the platform, which you came from, that has the letter O beneath it. To the right of the Kongs after a small gap, the Kongs can find a platform with a trail of three Bananas on it. This platform is attached to a higher platform with a Tiki Bomber on it. Anyway, the Kongs should carefully jump to the platform with the trail of three Bananas on it. Wait, how do you get the letter O? This platform is the key. If the Kongs roll into the small gap to the left of this platform, they can jump to the letter O quickly. This puts them back onto the platform that would've had the letter O beneath it. The Kongs can then jump back onto the platform that has or had (depending on if you collected any Bananas on it or not; most likely you did collect at least one or two) three Bananas on it. Now, the problem is the Tiki Bomber on the higher platform. Tiki Bombers are way more dangerous than Tiki Torches, yet the same trick used for Tiki Torches to defeat them is used for Tiki Bombers. Even though Tiki Bombers have been encountered already, let's bring back the fact that they shoot a blue fireball to its left and right twice before it ceases for a while. So, the Kongs should wait for the enemy to shoot a fireball out both directions twice. When it does so and ceases, the Kongs should jump to this higher platform with the enemy on it (only if it not on the left edge of the higher platform; it if is, then the Kongs should wait a couple more times until it is safe to jump to the higher platform). Here, the Kongs should quickly blow on the enemy to put out its blue flames that make it up. The enemy will stop, burnt and stunned. Quickly, the Kongs should jump on this enemy and it is gone for good. Well, no champagne for victory cause there's more Tiki Bombers ahead. Anyway, after the enemy has been defeated, the Kongs can head to this platform's right edge. Here, they can find a large, flat, golden, trampoline-like switch. The Kongs can jump here. Well, this is strange, I thought we defeated that Tiki Bomber? However, there are blue fireballs being fired at us. The Kongs can jump over these fireballs to dodge them, however, if they look to their right, they can find a platform with a Tiki Bomber on it attached to a lower platform with a strange, pot-like object that can be pounded on for an Extra Life Balloon on it. So, if the Kongs refuse to pound this golden switch three times (since it causes that area to their right to disappear, as well as the one on the left), they can wait for this enemy to fire a fireball both directions twice. After it does so and ceases, the Kongs should jump to the platform it is on (only if the enemy is not on the platform's left edge; if it is there, the Kongs should wait a couple more times until it is safe to jump to its platform). Anyway, here the Kongs should quickly blow on the Tiki Bomber to put out its flames. After this has been done, the Kongs can jump on the enemy to defeat it. Now the Kongs can head to the lower platform and pound the strange, pot-like object for an Extra Life Balloon. After all this has been done, the Kongs can jump back onto the giant, flat, trampoline-shaped, golden switch and pound it three times. Wow, that switch really does have a lot of words to describe it. Anyway, once the switch has been pounded on three times, the area that the Kongs were on to their right, as well as the one on their left disappears. Lava then starts to rise.
Furious Fire 3

The flat, trampoline-shaped, golden switch has been pounded on three times. The lava is now rising, "powering" the lava wave to make its big move. Yikes! Doesn't that lava look super red and hot! Well, it must be hot like planet Venus!

Wait, what's going on here! They said there were Ultra Char-chars in this level not rising lava like in the later, Red Red Rising! However, as soon as the lava gets close to the flat, trampoline-shaped, golden switch, a giant wave of lava pushes the switch and the Kongs upwards through a large group of Bananas and Banana Bunches. However, since the wave pushes the switch with the Kongs at such a fast pace, this ride is not very long and ends shortly after it begins. After the ride "ends" the Kongs can look to their right to see a solid floor with the Tutorial Pig hosting the first and only checkpoint in the level. The Kongs can jump here and activate the checkpoint. After the checkpoint (which is also after this solid floor's right edge), the Kongs can find a gap with two rock platforms above it. Hmmm, that's strange. These rock platforms have cracks in them. The Kongs should first rock platform. The platform starts to crumble! Oh no, these aren't just any rock platform, THEY'RE CRUMBLING ROCK PLATFORMS!!! But, I thought those were from the Cliff and would never reappear. Well, you're right, this really is no Crumble Canyon or Clifftop Climb. However, let's be realistic. In volcanoes, what can you find besides magma. Well, there are lots of crumbling parts, fire, and more, all of which are featured in this world, the Volcano. Yes, these crumbling, rock platforms do act similar to the ones in the Cliff, however, they are a way darker color. These crumbling, rock platforms are like a mixture of silver and blue in color. Anyway, quickly, the Kongs should jump to the second crumbling, rock platform. Here, the Kongs can see a solid floor ahead. Quickly, the apes should jump here. Ahhh, safe at last! No more of those crumbling, rock platforms. Wha, wha, what! No more of those crumbling, rock platforms. Huhh? No more of those crumbling, rock platforms! WHAT (crowd saying it)?!! Well, you basically aren't prepared for Furious Fire. There are way more crumbling, rock platforms ahead. NOOOO!!!! We're gonna die!!! Anyway, on this floor the Kongs can find a molten object attached to a propeller on its left edge. It can be blown on for a collectible, most likely. Also, on this floor closer to its right edge, there is a strange, Tiki-like lantern/structure (whatever you want to call it) that can be blown on for a collectible, most likely. Above this floor, there is a quite long, thin platform with a trail of three Bananas and a Tiki Bomber on it. Above this platform slightly to the right, is another quite long, thin platform with a trail of three Bananas and a Tiki Goon on it. So, around this solid floor including the quite long, thin platforms above it, two Ultra Char-chars appear and "attack".
Furious Fire 4

Both Ultra Char-chars can be seen "attacking" in this picture. This picture takes place on the floor with the two quite long, thin platforms above it, located after the checkpoint. See that solid platform with the Tiki Torch on it (the one to the far right)? If the Kongs had to go there, they can find the letter N above them near a wall, even though it cannot be seen from here.

One Ultra Char-char comes from beneath the center of the floor, heads to the right, and then heads back into the lava to the right of the floor. Another Ultra Char-char appears from above to the right of the quite long, thin platform with the Tiki Goon on it, heads left for a while, and then goes back up out of the screen to the left of the same platform. So that's how these enemies "attack" around here. Anyway, let's help you get out of here. So, the Kongs should first make sure they are not in the center of the floor; if they are they should move back. Here, they should wait for the Ultra Char-char to appear and head right. When it does so, the Kongs should move behind it quickly. Quickly, however, does not mean touch it! The Kongs can carefully follow the enemy until they reach the floor's right edge. Now when the Ultra Char-char heads into the lava, the Kongs can notice a solid platform after the gap the Ultra Char-char goes in. It holds a Tiki Torch and a molten object attached to a propeller that can be blown on for a collectible, most likely. Above this platform close to a wall is the letter N. So, quickly, the apes should jump to this solid platform (only when the Tiki Torch is not on the left edge of it; if it is, the Kongs will have to wait for it to move away from there. They might have to do some ducking if the Ultra Char-char reappears before they jump here). Here, the Kongs should blow on the Tiki Torch. After this has been done, the apes should jump on it. The apes can also high bounce on the enemy to reach the letter N, even though it is not required to use. Why? Well, the Kongs can also simply jump to the letter N. After this has been done, the apes should now wait for the Ultra Char-char to head into the gap to their left and disappear. Quickly (when the enemy does so), the apes should now jump back onto the solid floor and run/roll past the center of it. The Kongs should now be below the quite long, thin platform with the three Bananas and a Tiki Bomber on it. Well, you know what we do with Tiki Bombers, right? Yep, we squish them to their living death! We push them down into the lava! We blow on them and then eat them! We sit on them! We eat a fireball and spit it back onto the Tiki Bomber, just like Yoshi/Kirby do! We...I don't know. *Sigh*, we must first wait on it to fire a fireball both directions twice. When it does so, then we must jump on some part of the quite long, thin platform that it is not yet on. Then we blow the enemy and jump on it. So, just as the "tutorial" explains, the Kongs should go ahead and do the same. After the Tiki Bomber is gotten rid of, the Kongs should move to the left edge of this platform. Here, they must wait on an Ultra Char-char to come by and head upwards to the left of the next quite long, thin platform, which is above the Kongs slightly to the right. Well, then if it is there, why are we waiting on it. You see, even though it is not moving too close to the Kongs, its tail is still long enough to fit onto part of the center of the platform the Kongs are on. So, if the Kongs are on the center of this platform at this moment, they will probably get burnt and lose a Heart. Anyway, back into business. After this Ultra Char-char disappears, the Kongs can quickly jump onto the next platform, which is above them slightly to the right. If the Kongs hover a bit, they can reach the Tiki Goon. Landing on the Tiki Goon is a good idea, since it may hurt the Kongs depending on how close they land by it. Anyway, if the Kongs fail to do this, they can sitll land on the platform and jump on the Tiki Goon. The enemy then falls into pieces. Wow, that enemy is so weak! Has he ever lifted weights before? Just kidding. Anyway, after the Tiki Goon has been defeated, the Kongs should quickly head to the right edge of the platform. Here, the Kongs can see a floor attached to some cracked objects near a wall. They should quickly jump here. The Kongs should now head to the right edge of this floor, which is by the wall. They will be on the first of the three cracked objects stacked on top of each other. A floor can be seen below the third cracked object, and from here, three Bananas can be seen on it. After that floor, there is a small gap with a platform that holds a DK Barrel and three molten objects (one is separated from the other two) attached to a propeller that can be blown on for a collectible (s), most likely. Anyway, the Kongs should go ahead and pound the first cracked object until it breaks. They will drop down the second cracked object. The Kongs should now pound this cracked object until it breaks. The destroyed object will drop the Kongs on the third cracked object. However, here, since the Kongs are right above the floor, they should wait a bit. Why? Well, let's see why. If the Kongs wait for a few seconds, they can notice an Ultra Char-char coming out of the lava in the small gap after the floor and heading left. It passes the third cracked object the Kongs are on and heads down very close to a basalt wall that is very close in the foreground. And how close do we mean when we say the Ultra Char-char is heading down close to this basalt wall. Well, we're talking so close that more than half of its body cannot be seen as it heads downward. Now you know how close this basalt wall is in the foreground (it's so close that it looks like it cannot come any closer). So, after this Ultra Char-char heads down very close to the basalt wall close in the foreground, the Kongs can pound the third cracked object until it breaks. After this has been done, the apes can land on the floor. If they quickly head left, they can head into the basalt wall. It moves down, revealing an alcove with a skull Barrel Cannon in it (skull Barrel Cannons/Auto-Fire Barrels destroy themselves/explode, whatever you want to call it, after firing the Kongs). If the Kongs jump into this skull Barrel Cannon, they can be fired into a Bonus Room. Anyway, if the Kongs head right after landing on this floor, they can quickly head jump over the small gap onto the solid platform with the DK Barrel and three molten objects attached to propellers on it. If the Ultra Char-char reappears before the Kongs reach here, they should duck until it passes them. They can then jump to this solid platform. Anyway, here on this solid platform with the DK Barrel, etc, the Kongs can see a solid floor ahead. WAIT! DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!! If the Kongs wait here for a while, they can watch an Ultra Char-char head left over the floor and down into the gap to their right. So, after the enemy disappears into the gap, the Kongs should quickly jump to this floor. Here, the Kongs can see many things. First of all, there is a trail of three Bananas and a Tiki Torch on this floor. Above the center of this floor, there is an angry, devilish-looking, gold vine statue of an ape's head just hanging there. Also, to the far right of this vine statue, there is a platform with a Tiki Torch and a Tiki Goon on it (this is all that can be seen from the left side of this floor. So, what do we do now? We have to dodge two things: the Tiki Torch and the Ultra Char-char. Since the Ultra Char-char is going to reappear in any minute or might actually be reappearing, the Kongs should quickly near the Tiki Torch and blow it. After this has been done, they should duck and wait for the Ultra Char-char to pass them. Now, quickly before the Tiki Torch regenerates (Regenerate means to cure; recover, meaning gotten from thesaurus.com. There are more definitions of regenerate than that), the Kongs should jump on the enemy. This takes it out for good. Now, I wonder what that vine switch does? Well, let's not pull it just yet. We should duck once more and wait for the Ultra Char-char to reappear and pass us. After this has been done, we can now jump to the vine switch and cling onto it. This pulls the vine, causing a set of three platforms, each a bit higher than the other slightly to the left, to appear out of three structures in the background. These platforms open up very similar to the cannon platforms in the Cliff's seventh level, Tippy Shippy. The first platform appears above the solid platform with the Tiki Torch on it slightly to the left. A timer can be heard, and this we're not talking 30 second timers like in the Bonus Room. Let's say the timer lasts around 5 to 10 seconds! WHAT!!! Also, when the timer starts getting faster, a platform closes. Then, the next platform closes and you get the picture. So, if the Kongs want to see why this vine statue is here, let's first jump to the solid platform with the Tiki Torch and Tiki Goon on it. Quickly, before the Tiki Torch/Tiki Goon has a chance
Furious Fire 8

The Kongs jump from the second platform attached to its structure to the third platform attached to its structure. Above the third platform slightly to the left, half of the Puzzle Piece located there can be seen in the picture. Also, you can notice that the first platform, which can be seen to the right of the vine statue in the picture, has closed. This means that the vine statue's timer is about to end. THE KONGS BETTER HURRY!!!

to touch them, the Kongs should jump to the first platform above them slightly to the left. Here, the Kongs can then quickly jump to the second platform above them slightly to the left. Finally, the Kongs can jump to the third platform above them slightly to the left. A Puzzle Piece can be seen from here. It is above the Kongs slightly to the left. Most likely, the platforms are closing behind the Kongs. Quickly, the apes should jump to the Puzzle Piece. They will drop down to the solid platform that has/had the DK Barrel on it, etc. Here, the Kongs should wait for the Ultra Char-char of the solid floor to appear and head into the gap to their right. When it does so, the Kongs can jump back onto the solid floor and quickly rush back to the solid platform with the Tiki Torch and Tiki Goon on it. This platform is very dangerous. Why? Well, the Kongs must avoid the Tiki Goon and Tiki Torch on it + an Ultra Char-char that travels left over this platform. The Ultra Char-char then heads back up out of the screen to the left of this platform above it. Wow, that's a lot to dodge. Anyway, first, the Kongs should just simply jump on the Tiki Goon to defeat it. They should then quickly blow on the Tiki Torch and then duck. The Kongs should wait for the Ultra Char-char to pass by them and then quickly jump on the Tiki Torch to get rid of that enemy. Wait! But what if the Ultra Char-char appears at an earlier time? Oh, stop whining! Think! Well, before you jump to this platform with these two Tiki enemies, you should wait for the Ultra Char-char to head upwards above it to its left. If the Kongs need to duck for the Ultra Char-char of the solid floor before this, they can do so. Then, once the Ultra Char-char of that platform with the two Tiki enemies is gone, the Kongs can freely jump onto it, even though they may get hurt by the Tiki enemies. Hey, sometime's you gotta feel the pain to reach your goal. Anyway, also on this platform with the two defeated Tiki enemies, the Kongs can find a Banana Bunch in midair that can be reached with a high bounce off a defeated Tiki enemy here, as well as a molten object attached to a propeller that can be blown on for a collectible, most likely. Now if the Kongs head to right edge of this platform, they can notice a solid, small floor with a Char-char bouncing left to right on it. After each edge that the enemy reaches, it turns around and bounces the other direction towards the opposite edge. So, this is how you can safely get to the platform, even though you most likely are going to have to do some ducking a couple times to avoid the Ultra Char-char of this platform you are on. So, let's wait for the Char-char to get close to the solid, small floor's right edge, ducking if we need to. When this moment comes at the right time (when the Ultra Char-char is not passing over us), we should jump to this small floor and stand still on its left edge. Here, the apes can wait for the Char-char to bounce close to them and then blow the enemy when it lands. The Kongs don't even need to do that. On the platform with the two defeated Tiki enemies, the Kongs should wait for the Char-char to reach the solid, small floor's left edge, which is beneath the platform they are on. When the Char-char reaches there, they can jump down to this solid, small floor. At the right edge of this floor, there is another solid, small floor just after a small gap. Quickly, before the Char-char reaches them (if it has not yet been defeated), the Kongs can jump to second solid, small floor. Ha, Char-char! You're too slow!!! Yep, sometimes you just gotta use that phrase from Sonic. Anyway, here, the Kongs are going to have to duck, for an Ultra Char-char is nearing them. The enemy appears from the lava behind a basalt wall close in the foreground ahead. The Kongs should wait for the enemy to pass over them. So, I guess it was a good idea to defeat the Char-char first, for you can wait for the Ultra Char-char to head over this solid, small floor and into the gap to the left of it. Well, everybody makes mistakes. You just got to learn from them. Anyway, on this floor, now that the Ultra Char-char has passed the Kongs, the player can also notice a long, thin platform above them that has two Char-chars bouncing around on it. Two Banana Coins and two Banana Bunches are above the enemies on that platform, and they can be reached with a jump. Hmmm, is it worth it to go there? Let's find out after putting out what else is around here. Also, there is a platform held up by the basalt wall that the Ultra Char-char comes from behind. On this platform, there is a Tiki Bomber. Since this platform is between both the small, solid floor the apes are on and the higher, thin platform with the two Char-chars, this platform is the key to get up to the higher, thin platform. So, after the Ultra Char-char has passed the Kongs (you can duck & wait again if needed), the Kongs can wait for the Tiki Bomber on this platform to fire a fireball both directions twice and move away from the left side of it. When this moment comes (even if it takes a couple ducks and waits), they can then jump to this platform and blow on the Tiki Bomber. Then, the apes can jump on it. Now, the Kongs have two choices. They can jump to a platform to their right with two molten objects attached to propellers that can be blown on for a collectible (s), most likely, or they can jump onto the long, thin platform with the two Char-chars bouncing around on it. If the Kongs jump to the long, thin platform with the two Char-chars on it, they must try to dodge these enemies and blow on them to cause them to disintegrate. The Kongs can then collect the collectibles in the air. Anyway, if the Kongs landed on the platform with the two molten objects that can be blown on for a collectible (s), most likely. Here, there are three tall, small basalt platforms ahead. The small basalt platforms are as high as this platform the Kongs are on, and each one has a small space between it and the next basalt platform. There is a Tiki-like lantern/structure that can be blown on for a collectible, most likely on the second small basalt platform. Also, a Char-char bounces left to right on these basalt platforms. It turns the opposite direction after every "edge" basalt platform. So basically, it turns around and heads the opposite direction after touching the first and third basalt platform. So, this should bring a light bulb into your head of how to get rid of this enemy. "Lightbulb!" (from Despicable Me). Anyway, the Kongs should wait for this Char-char to bounce on the first (nearest) small basalt platform and turn around. When it turns around and heads the other direction, the Kongs

The Kongs head over the first small basalt platform of the three small basalt platforms with the Char-char bouncing around on them. If you look carefully in the picture, you can see the dark-colored Tiki-like lantern/structure on the second small basalt platform. Wow, that's an odd thing to blow on. But hey, it's the Volcano. What more could we expect anyway?

should jump on the first small basalt platform. Here, they should wait for the Char-char to land on the second small basalt platform, which is the one directly in front of the Kongs, not the one after it (that would be the third small basalt platform). When the enemy does land on the second small basalt platform, the Kongs should quickly blow on it to defeat it. This also blows out the Tiki-like lantern/structure on the second small basalt platform, making it release a collectible, most likely. After this has been done, the Kongs can go ahead and jump to the second small basalt platform. From here, the apes can jump to the third small basalt platform. Here, the Kongs can see a Banana Bunch hovering in midair high above a platform with a Tiki Goon and a molten object attached to a propeller that can be blown on for a collectible, most likely on it. Look! All this can be seen in the picture above! Anyway, this platform, is attached to a curvy floor that has one or two molten objects attached to a propeller that can be blown on for a collectible (s), most likely. So. from the third small basalt platform, the Kongs can jump and hover into the Banana Bunch, then aim to land on the Tiki Goon. If done successfully, the Kongs will end up landing on the Tiki Goon, defeating it. However, what if you fail to do so! Don't give up! Land on the platform and take that piece of nasty trash outta here with a jump! Anyway, after the Tiki Goon has been defeated, the Kongs can now jump up to the higher floor attached to this platform. The Kongs can head forward to head through a trail of Bananas ending with a Banana Bunch. A similar-shaped floor with a Tiki Torch on it is below the Kongs. The Kongs have now entered what I, Smashbro8, like to call the "Ultra Char-char Maze". There is a lot going on here, making it very hard to explain how to get out of this maze safely. Also, so many Ultra Char-chars attack at one time that it is also very hard to explain where they come from, where they go, and where they head out of the screen. These Ultra Char-chars are very different from the previous since they move in curved paths. No lava is present here, just many floors, walls and platforms. Also, many platforms here are curvy-shaped, even if it is not mentioned in this overview. A key to get out of here is to stay at the top area. Anyway, when the floor with the Bananas and Banana Bunch ends, there is a higher platform that the apes can jump to. This higher platform is attached to a monkey statue. Wait, what?! Did you just say "monkey statue"? Well, we've seen a lot of those in this level. I don't believe it! After so many ages! These statues have not been seen from since the second level of the Ruins, Button Bash! Anyway, below this platform slightly to the right is a platform attached to the wall. Dodging the "attacking" Ultra Char-chars, the Kongs can drop down to this platform and then drop down to the floor beneath it. Three Bananas are on the floor directly below this platform attached to the wall. If the Kongs follow the floor to the left, they can defeat/jump over the Tiki Torch found here. Here, the apes can head past the enemy until they find a basalt wall close in the foreground. If the apes head into this wall, it moves down, revealing an alcove with a Puzzle Piece. Now the Kongs must head back to the previous platforms and climb them to get back to where they came from. Now on this platform attached to the monkey statue, the Kongs can then jump to another, longer platform. A monkey statue holds this platform together, and there is a trail of Bananas on the platform too. Beneath this platform is similar platform attached to the same monkey statue as the platform the Kongs are on. On the opposite side of that platform attached to the monkey statue is a similar platform attached to a wall on the right. Now beneath those two platforms is a floor with a Tiki Goon, a trail of three Bananas and strange, pot-like object that can be pounded on for a collectible, most likely on it. Behind the monkey statue that the platform the Kongs are on and the platform beneath it is attached to, there is the letter G in an alcove. So, dodging the Ultra Char-chars, the Kongs can drop down to the platform beneath the one they are on and then drop down to the floor beneath that platform. Here, the Kongs can head left. They will encounter the Tiki Goon, most likely. If it is in the way, the Kongs should jump on/roll through it. Both ways defeat/wipe out the enemy. After the Tiki Goon, the Kongs can continue heading forward until they reach the alcove with the letter G in it. The Kongs can simply jump to the letter G to collect it. They can then collect anything else on this floor if they want while

dodging the Ultra Char-chars. Then, the Kongs can use the platform attached to the wall on the right to reach another long, curvy platform attached to the same wall on the opposite side. When the apes jump here, they can head through three more Bananas until they reach the end of this platform. There is another, similar-shaped platform attached to the wall on their right. It holds a Tiki Goon who roams about on it. Beneath this platform is a floor with a trail of three Bananas on it. So, first of all, the apes should head down to the floor attached to the wall and try to land on the Tiki Goon. Well, that should not be very hard. If the Kongs successfully land on it, it is defeated. If the Kongs fail, don't have a heart attack. Please don't, cause we don't need to have tears now. Anyway, if the Kongs fail to do so, they can land on the platform and jump on the enemy to defeat it. Now, from this platform, the apes can head to its end and drop down to the floor below it. Here, the Kongs should not make a move, for two more Ultra Char-chars are going to "attack" nearby sooner or later. After both enemies disappear/move out of the way, which they do together, the Kongs can head to the end of this floor. There is a higher platform attached to this floor. A Tiki Bomber roams about on this higher platform. So, the Kongs should first wait for this enemy to fire a fireball both directions twice and move to the right edge of this platform. Since the platform is so small, the Tiki Bomber being on or near the right edge is a must. Anyway, when the Tiki Bomber cease firing fireballs and is at a point where the Kongs can jump on the platform it is on, the Kongs should jump to it. Here, they can blow on the enemy and then jump on it to defeat it. Now to the right of this platform after a small gap, there is a crumbling, rock platform. After this crumbling rock platform is another small gap with a Tiki Buzz hovering in it. A Banana Coin is directly above this enemy, and it can be reached if the Kongs high bounce off this enemy and head right to the next crumbling, rock platform. To the right of th Tiki Buzz, which is also above the first crumbling, rock platform slightly to the right, there is another crumbling, rock platform. So, the Kongs should jump on the first crumbling, rock platform. Here, the Kongs should quickly jump to the second crumbling, rock platform. Here, the Kongs can see another crumbling, rock platform below them slightly to the right. After this crumbling, rock platform, there is a quite wide gap with another crumbling, rock platform after it. Right next to this crumbling, rock platform after the quite wide gap to its left is a Tiki Buzz and an Extra Life Balloon. Anyway, the Kongs should drop down to the next crumbling, rock platform. Here, they should jump over the quite wide gap onto the next crumbling, rock platform. From here, the Kongs can jump over a quite wide gap onto a floor made up of four crumbling, rock platforms. Above the border between the second and third crumbling, rock platforms, which is also the center of all these crumbling, rock platforms put together, is the level's Slot Machine Barrel. Since this platform is not strong enough to hold the Kongs forever, the Kongs have no time to wait on the item they want in the Slot Machine Barrel's spinning "roulette". So that means this: "DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!!". The Kongs should quickly jump to the Slot Machine Barrel. When they do so, they will hit the Barrel. Furious Fire is complete! Wasn't that level fun? Or should we see what Hot Rocket and the rest of the levels are like and then make our decision...

Secrets

K-O-N-G Letters

  • K:
    Furious Fire 5

The Kongs are about to jump over the gap to reach the platform with the letter N above it.

Shortly after the first DK Barrel in the level, the Kongs can find the letter K above a factory-like platform. There is a solid platform below this platform slightly to the right that the Kongs can use to reach this factory-like platform. Here, the Kongs can jump to the letter K. BUT! There is an Ultra Char-char that "attacks" around the letter K.
  • O: The letter O is under a small platform before the flat, trampoline-like, golden switch and the checkpoint. If the Kongs jump to a platform after this platform with the letter O beneath it, which holds three Bananas on it, they can roll into the gap from that platform and jump to reach the letter O and land back on the small platform that had the letter beneath it.
  • N: Shortly after the checkpoint, the Kongs will reach a solid floor with two quite long, thin platforms above it. The Kongs should ignore these platforms above the floor and head to the floor's end. They can see a platform attached to a wall ahead. The platform holds a Tiki Torch and a molten object that can be blown on for a collectible, most likely. The letter N is near the wall this platform is attached to. So, first of all, the apes should wait for the Tiki Torch to move away from the platform's left edge. They should duck if the Ultra Char-char is nearing them from behind and wait for it to go into the gap in front of them. The Kongs can then jump to the platform, defeat the Tiki Torch and then jump to the letter N.
  • G: After the fifth and final Puzzle Piece, the Kongs can find the letter G in the "Ultra Char-char Maze", the Kongs can find the letter G behind an alcove. If the Kongs head down to the floor of the area with the letter G, they can head left. Eventually the apes reach the alcove, they can jump to the letter G.

Puzzle Pieces

  1. FuriousFire365-1-

The Kongs in this level's Bonus Room.

At the beginning of the level, the Kongs can head into the first basalt wall, which is below a factory-like platform with a Char-char. If the Kongs head into the basalt wall, they can unleash a hidden alcove with a Puzzle Piece in it.
  2. When the heroes reach the platform with the letter O beneath it, they can jump to a platform above them slightly to the left. Here, the Kongs can then jump from platform to platform, ducking for any Ultra Char-char that comes by until they reach a platform with a Puzzle Piece above it.
  3. Immediately after the platform with the letter N above it, there is a floor with three cracked objects stacked on top of each other at its end. If the Kongs pound on these three objects, they can eventually drop down to a floor. To the apes' left, there is a large basalt wall very close in the foreground. If the apes head into this basalt wall, it lowers, revealing an alcove with a skull Barrel Cannon in it. If the Kongs jump into this skull Barrel Cannon, they can be fired into a Bonus Room. Here, the apes must collect forty Bananas and four Banana Coins while bouncing on a moving trampoline. Huh, fun! Anyway, if everything is collected within thirty seconds, a Puzzle Piece appears.
  4. Soon after the exit from the Bonus Room, the Kongs will come up to a floor with an angry, devilish-looking, gold vine statue of an ape's head above it. After ducking from an Ultra Char-char that passes by this floor, the Kongs can jump to the statue's vine and cling onto it. This causes three platforms, each a bit higher than the other, appear on their own structures in the background. A timer begins counting down (even though there is no way you can tell how long it really lasts), meaning the Kongs should move with EXTREME SPEED. So, to reach the first platform, the apes should jump on a nearby platform with a Tiki Torch and a Tiki Goon on it. Quickly, they should jump to the first platform located above them slightly to their left. Here, the Kongs should jump to the second platform above them slightly to their left. Here, the Kongs should quickly jump to the third platform. Here, the Puzzle Piece can be seen above the Kongs slightly to their left. Quickly, the apes should jump to it. After collecting it, the Kongs will land on the solid platform with the second DK Barrel on it. Here, the Kongs can make their way back to the platform with the vine statue above it and proceed.
  5. This Puzzle Piece is right at the beginning of the "Ultra Char-char Maze". If the Kongs head down the first group of platforms in this area (a good way to tell this area is that it is that there is a floor with many Bananas and a Banana Bunch on it. There is a similar floor beneath the Kongs that has a basalt wall to its left end), they can go down lower onto a floor and head left. Here, the Kongs can head even further past a Tiki Torch to reach a basalt wall. If the Kongs head into this basalt wall, it lowers, revealing a hidden alcove with a Puzzle Piece that the apes can jump to.

A Message From Your Author

Hi, it is your author, Smashbro8, again! Remember those few levels that have the lot of pizzazz in them (Switcheroo, Music Madness, Treacherous Track, etc)? Well, this page, Furious Fire, has a lot of pizzazz in it. As said above, I am a pizzazz lover, and I will do anything to add some fun in my writing as long as it is no inappropriate or too offensive. So, if you happen to come across a joke or something stupid in this page, don't erase it. Writing does need some fun in it. And for a long overview like this, there has to be some jokes and stuff in the page to go along with it. So please do not erase it. Also, remember to check out the other levels of DKCR plus other game stuff too! This wiki can help you! Smashbro8 21:02, March 12, 2012 (UTC)Smashbro8
