GoldenTemple65

The Kongs stand on the starting floor of the Golden Temple (level).

The Golden Temple is the ninth world of Donkey Kong Country Returns, as well as the sixty-fourth and final level of the game. It is also the final unlockable level in the game. Even though the world itself is unlocked after the Kongs (Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong) defeat Tiki Tong, the temple's secret level is not unlocked until all of the Rare Orbs of the previous worlds' temple levels have been collected. So to get into the temple, the Kongs must collect a Rare Orb in Platform Panic (Jungle), Tumblin' Temple (Beach), Shifty Smashers (Ruins), Jagged Jewels (Cave), Blast & Bounce (Forest), Perilous Passage (Cliff), Treacherous Track (Factory) and Five Monkey Trial (Volcano). The level is very unique, for it begins in an area similar to that of the Jungle. From the Jungle part, the entrance to the temple is seen. However, to get in the temple, all eight orbs must be collected. When all eight orbs are collected and the apes get in, a cutscene plays, showing them find a giant Golden Banana. After the Kongs eat some of this Golden Banana, they are warped to the rest of the level. The main feature of this level is the fact that it takes place in the sky. Here, there are many floating fruits. These include tilting, slippery, shiny bananas (or halves of a banana, some of which move in circles. Some bananas are seen in the background too; they are used to decorate the beautiful background of this beautiful sky level), strawberries (some are stationary, others move side to side or up and down), blueberries that move down a bit when stepped on, falling

oranges that fall from the sky, and even exploding cherries on tilting, rod-shaped platforms. The heroes must be careful, for if they fall off any of the fruits or platforms in the level, they will lose an Extra Life Balloon. Also, the level features many enemies, some of which are old and new. These are Tiki Dooms, Tiki Buzzes, Tiki Torks, Rawks, Kowalees and Tiki Seekers. The reward for completing this level is unlocking the new mode, Mirror Mode, where every level is reversed. Here in Mirror Mode, Donkey Kongs must complete the level without the aid of Diddy Kong and with only one Heart. Also, another thing is that the Golden Temple is still very much like a secret temple level, for it also does not have any DK Barrels, K-O-N-G Letters, Bonus Rooms or checkpoints, which are hosted by the Tutorial Pig. However, five Puzzle Pieces are present in this level. Anyway, in Time Attack mode, a time of 1:04:00 is needed to get a gold medal, a time of 1:30:00 for a silver medal, and a time of 2:14:00 for a bronze medal. Also, note that this is the last and bonus world of DKCR.

Overview

The level begins with the Kongs landing on a floor in a Jungle-like area. A wooden arrow sign that says "EXIT" is behind the Kongs. If they happen to go left, the Kongs will exit the level, obviously. Anyway, the Kongs should head forward. Soon, they can climb up two sets of beautiful, golden stairs. At the top, there is a tablet door. If the Kongs have all eight orbs the tablet door can be seen to the side of an opening, meaning it is open. However, if the Kongs do not have all eight orbs, the tablet door is closed. If the Kongs step on a switch in the floor without all eight orbs, the music of a failed Bonus Room plays, as well as a sign appearing, which tells the Kongs to go back and collect all eight orbs. Anyway, if the Kongs do have all eight orbs, they can simply run/roll into the temple's opening. A cutscene begins to play. It starts off showing the Kongs walking through a small hall in the temple. Shortly after this, the heroes enter an open area of the hall's passage, full of palm trees to their sides. The heroes can see a giant Golden Banana ahead above them, which is below the fists of two golden, DK-like statues. Excited, the Kongs run up some more stairs up to the Golden Banana and then, DK brings it down. After this, DK peels off a piece of the Banana and the two take a bite of the banana. Suddenly, their bodies begin to glow

and the heroes are then warped into the rest of the Golden Temple level. Here, the warped Kongs land on a platform with a beautiful golden arch with two bananas to its sides (one on one side, another on the other side). Beautiful music begins to play, which you DK game players (players that have played many Donkey Kong games) might be able to figure out as you move on in the level. Ahead of the Kongs, there is a stationary strawberry platform above a gap. The Kongs can jump onto this strawberry platform. Here, the Kongs can see a HUGE, tilting banana positioned horizontally. On the two tips of this banana, there is a real Banana, the collectible one. Yeah, you could jump on the banana, however, it is tilting, barely. So what do we do then? Duh! Jump on it! The Kongs should jump on this banana. Here, the Kongs can move onto the other side of this banana to find a strawberry platform ahead, which has a Banana Bunch on it. So, to get to this strawberry platform, the Kongs can jump on this banana platform's nearby tip, which holds a Banana on it. From here, they can then jump onto the strawberry platform. Here, a platform with a trail of six Bananas, a Tiki Doom and a dandelion that can be blown on for a collectible, most likely, can be seen ahead. Wait a minute! Did you just say "dandelion"? Its been ages from since we've last seen those! Wow, memories are coming back. Anyway, the Kongs can jump onto this platform with the dandelion, Tiki Doom, etc. Here, the Kongs can first get rid of this big nuisance, the Tiki Doom. Even though he's threatening, three jumps on his head takes him out. So the Kongs should go ahead and jump on the enemy three times. After the third hit, this enemy breaks apart. What a wimp! Anyway, a Tiki Seeker in its portal can be seen ahead of this platform, and it fires a triangular, blade-like projectile at the Kongs. The heroes should jump over/move away from this nearing projectile, otherwise they will get hurt (lose a Heart). Anyway, there is a secret here, which is one of the reasons why the Tiki Doom should've been removed (defeated). If the player looks carefully beneath the platform, they can see an urn on the bottom of this platform slightly covered in some clouds. Bottom? Yep, we mean the bottom of this platform! Anyway, if the Kongs pound the ground above where the urn is located, something shoots out of the urn. Suddenly, a Puzzle Piece falls from the sky, onto the platform the heroes are on. After the Puzzle Piece is collected, the Kongs can move to the right edge of this platform. Here, they can see a tilting half of a banana that barely even tilts. Yeah, you have to stare at this platform for a couple seconds to see if it is really tilting. Anyway, once it is able to be jumped on, the Kongs can jump on this slow-tilting half of a banana platform. Here, the Kongs can move close to the edge of this slow-tilting half of a Banana to see an ENORMOUS gap ahead. If the Kongs stand here for a while, they can see a strawberry platform with a Banana Bunch on it come near them. When this platform comes close enough, the heroes can jump on it. This platform then moves forward. Shortly, after this "ride" on the strawberry platform, the Kongs can jump onto another strawberry platform with a Banana Bunch above them. This strawberry platform is nearing the Kongs. Anyway, on this strawberry platform, the Kongs can then ride towards a large tilting banana with its surface full of the collectible Bananas, as well as a HUGE ring of collectible Bananas above it. Right before the strawberry platform gets close enough to the large tilting banana, a Tiki Seeker in its portal appears above them slightly to the right and fires a blade-like projectile at them. The heroes can jump over the fired projectile. Anyway, when the Kongs get close to the large, tilting banana, they can jump onto it, as long as it is not tilted too far away. As soon as the Kongs land here, a Tiki Seeker appears from its portal and fires a blade-like projectile at the Kongs. The Kongs can move out of the way of or jump over this approaching sharp projectile. After dodging the projectile, the Kongs can move forward on the tilting banana onto its other side. Here, a floor can be seen ahead. This floor has two lower floors attached to it, however, they are divided by a raised part of floor. Each lower floor creates a space the Kongs can jump over, however, falling into them is worth it since there are two Bananas and a Banana Bunch positioned vertically above each lower floor. Anyway, when the banana tilts near the floor, the Kongs can jump over its tip onto the left side of this floor, which has a Rawk and a dandelion that can be blown on for a collectible, most likely. Here, a large purple koala sitting in a Koopa-Clown Car-like vehicle with a propeller nears the Kongs. This enemy throws bombs at the Kongs. These bombs do not explode as soon as they land after being thrown, however, they do flash and explode shortly after landing. To defeat this large hovering koala enemy, the Kongs can pick up one of the thrown bombs (press the B button on the Wii Remote to pick up an object, hold to hold the object, and release B to throw it) on the ground at it. After doing so, the enemy is wiped out, making a weird noise as it goes away. WHAT IN THE ANIMAL KINGDOM WAS THAT?!! Well, you have just fought a Kowalee, one of the new enemies of this level. The other new enemy, the Tiki Seeker, you encountered way earlier several times. AND WHAT KIND OF NOISE IS THAT?!! Well, Kowalees make extremely weird noises after they are defeated. After the Kowalee is defeated, the Kongs can jump over the first space in this floor (unless you are that crazy over Bananas and Banana Bunches, forcing you to drop inside the space and collect the collectibles. You must then jump back onto the left side of the floor to proceed after doing so), onto a raised part of floor with an urn that can be pounded on for a collectible, most likely, on it. From here, the apes can jump over another space (unless you wish to go down into the space to collect the two Bananas with a Banana Bunch on the bottom) onto the right side of the floor, which holds a Tiki Doom. The Kongs should aim to land on the Tiki Doom, for they could get hurt if they land too close to the enemy on this floor's small right side. Hovering can aid the Kongs in doing this. After landing on the Tiki Doom, the Kongs should continue to jump on it two more times to defeat it. After the enemy is defeated, the apes can look ahead. A small blueberry platform can be seen. A tilting half of a Banana is after this small blueberry platform. This platform barely tilts. It also has five Bananas above its top. Anyway, the Kongs can jump onto the small blueberry platform. Wow! This platform sure is small! It can only hold the Kongs and no more! From here, a Tiki Seeker appears above the half of a banana nearby, and it fires a blade-like projectile at the Kongs. The Kongs can simply jump over the enemy's projectile. Why not move out of the way? THIS PLATFORM IS TOO SMALL FOR THAT!!! Anyway, after dodging the enemy's projectile, the Kongs can jump onto the half of the Banana, which is barely tilting. Here, the Kongs can move close to the edge of this platform. Another small blueberry platform can be seen from here. A Tiki Tork hovers in the air right after this small blueberry platform. So when the apes can, they can jump onto this small blueberry platform. The apes can then jump onto the Tiki Tork from here. The apes can then bounce and hover/high bounce
Golden Temple 3

The Kongs jump off the strawberry platform after the first Tiki Tork in the level, onto a platform with a Rawk and a dandelion that can be blown on for a collectible, most likely. If one looks closely (click the picture for a bigger, better view), they can notice the Kongs are jumping through the arch of Bananas that moves over them on that particular strawberry platform.

and hover to a strawberry platform with a Banana Bunch above it. Here, a long arch of Bananas comes out of the small gap to the right above the Kongs and moves over the Kongs on this small strawberry platform. Anyway, the Kongs can jump to a platform with a Rawk and a dandelion that can be blown on for a collectible, most likely, on it. Here, the Kongs can notice a strawberry platform moving left to right over this platform. Anyway, ahead of the Kongs, there is a large gap full of blueberry platforms. There are two rows of blueberries: a top row and a bottom row. The top row of blueberry platforms has five blueberry platforms while the bottom row of blueberry platforms has four blueberry platforms. Each blueberry platform of this large area has a Banana on it. Yeah, the Banana, the collectible. However, there is a problem. The top row's blueberry platforms cannot be reached with a jump from a blueberry platform of the bottom row. Well, how on Donkey Kong Island are we supposed to get up to those platforms?! Well, let's find out. The Kongs should jump onto the first blueberry platform of the bottom row. Here, they can then jump onto the second blueberry platform of the bottom row. From here, the Kongs can then jump onto the third blueberry platform of the bottom row. Uh oh. What, WHAT'S HAPPENING?!! Three Tiki Seekers appear one after another: one above the fourth blueberry platform of the bottom row, which is to the right of the Kongs, another in the space to the left of the second blueberry platform of the bottom row, which to the left of the Kongs, and one above the space between the third and fourth blueberry platforms of the top row, which is above the the Kongs. Good Lord! We could take one, but three! Come on now! This is like being surrounded by a bunch of monkeys with spears! Anyway, these three enemies fire their triangular, blade-like projectile at the Kongs. A good way to dodge these blade-like platforms is to simply jump to the next (fourth, which is also the last) blueberry platform of the bottom row. (Your Response) You're an idiot, Smashbro8. However, it can work because you (the Kongs) can jump over the projectile fired by the Tiki Seeker to the right of them and land onto the fourth blueberry platform of the bottom row's four blueberry platforms. The other two Tiki Seekers would fire, but because you moved away from where they were aiming, they end up firing their projectiles at the wrong target. So what gets hit by the projectiles? The air. The poor air gets pierced by blade-like projectiles. Just kidding. Anyway, from the fourth blueberry platform, the Kongs can jump onto a platform with a beautiful waterfall coming from the sky onto it. The waterfall constantly pours water onto this platform which ends up firing into the abyss in the foreground (which is inaccessible). However, don't get scared. This water is not ocean water/pool water. It
Golden Temple 5

The Kongs defeat the Tiki Doom on the platform with the waterfall on it. Isn't that beautiful? Also in the picture, there is a Tiki Buzz flying in a small gap to the right of this platform with the waterfall. Above the Tiki Buzz, there is a Tiki Seeker trying to fire its blade-like projectile at the Kongs. A dandelion that can be blown on for a collectible, most likely, and a Banana Bunch can be seen on the floor to the very right of the picture. Last but not least, two blueberry platforms: one of the upper (top) row, one of the lower(bottom)row can be seen to the far left of the picture.

can't kill the Kongs if they stand on it, for the water on this platform is only a stream surrounded by a small grassy area. A Rawk and a Tiki Doom are on this platform. The Kongs can aim to land on the Rawk here. Why? Well, there is a secret behind the Kongs that involves the Tiki Doom in order to be reached. Hovering can help the Kongs land on this Rawk. After the Rawk has been landed on and defeated, the heroes can head for the Tiki Doom. Come here you! PIT STOP!!! A Tiki Seeker appears above a Tiki Buzz in a small gap ahead and fires its blade-like projectile at the Kongs. Get out of the way! The Kongs should move out of the way of or jump over this nearing projectile to avoid touching it and losing a Heart. After dodging this dangerous blade-like projectile, we can now "arrest" this Tiki Doom. Just kidding, we cannot arrest a Tiki Doom. Anyway, here's the thing involving the Tiki Doom to reach the hidden secret behind the Kongs. The heroes should jump over the enemy and let it walk slowly to the left side of this platform. Once it reaches the left side of the platform, the Kongs can ambush (attack) it. So, the Kongs can jump on the Tiki Doom. BUT!!! If they high bounce off the enemy and move left, they can end up on the fifth blueberry platform of the top row of blueberry platforms behind them! Ohhhhh, so that's how you do it, eh?! Anyway from this fifth blueberry platform, the Kongs can jump onto the fourth blueberry platform of the top row. From here, the Kongs can then jump onto the third blueberry platform of the top row. Here, the Kongs can then jump onto the second blueberry platform of the top row. Last but not least, the Kongs can jump onto the first blueberry platform of the top row of blueberry platforms. Just so you know, three Tiki Seekers do appear as you jump from the blueberry platforms of this top row: One appears between the third and fourth blueberry platforms of the bottom row, another appears between the second and third blueberry platforms of the bottom row, and the last one appears between the first and second blueberry platforms of the bottom row. The Kongs should carefully dodge the projectiles fired from these tiny meanies. Anyway, a strawberry will soon near the Kongs to their left. They can notice that a Puzzle Piece has appeared on this strawberry, even though it makes a noise when it appears. So, we had to access the top blueberry platforms to get this Puzzle Piece, right?! Wrong! Each blueberry platform of the two rows has a Banana on it at first, which is before the apes jump on the platform. The blueberry platform is so small that there is no way to avoid landing on one without collecting the Banana on it. So, since you collected all of the Bananas on the blueberry platforms of the top and bottom rows of this large area, a Puzzle Piece appears on the strawberry to the Kongs' left. Anyway, the Kongs can jump onto this strawberry-like platform, collecting the Puzzle Piece on it when they land here. Anyway, the Kongs can then drop down onto a platform with a Rawk on it. Wait a minute! That strawberry platform we came from was the same one above this platform that we couldn't figure out how to get up to! Wow, learning new things...it can be fun! Depending on what it is....Anyway, the heroes can then use the bottom row's four blueberry platforms to cross the enormous gap and end up back onto the platform with the Rawk and the Tiki Doom on it. Here, The Kongs can once again defeat the enemies by jumping on the Rawk once and the Tiki Doom three times. They should also dodge the blade-like projectile fired from the Tiki Seeker above the Tiki Buzz in the small gap to the right of them. After the projectile is dodged and the enemies are defeated, the Kongs can move to the right edge of this platform. Yeah, the small gap with the Tiki Buzz in it can be seen, however, a floor is after this Tiki Buzz. This floor has two spaces in it, with a small floor at the bottom of each space. Two Bananas with a Banana Bunch on top form a triangle in each space on this floor. A large raised part of floor with a Tiki Doom on it divides the two spaces away from each other. Anyway, the Kongs can then jump over the Tiki Buzz when it is not in the way, onto the left side of the floor, which has a dandelion that can be blown on for a collectible, most likely. From here, the Kongs can jump over the first small space in the floor (unless you wish to get the Bananas and Banana Bunch in this space), onto the large raised part of floor. The Kongs can aim to land on the Tiki Doom, for it is wiser to do so. Why? Well, there is a possibility of getting damaged by the enemy if the heroes land on the raised part of floor. After landing on the enemy, the heroes can jump on it two more. Anyway, while the heroes do so, a Kowalee nears the Kongs and begins to throw bombs at them. Another Kowalee appears behind the Kongs and throws bombs at them. So, after the Tiki Doom is defeated, the Kongs can pick up one of the bombs thrown by the first Kowalee, which is in front of them, and throw it at the enemy. The enemy will be defeated, creating a weird noise as it is wiped out. The Kongs can then pick up a bomb thrown by the Kowalee behind them and throw it at the enemy. The Kowalee will be defeated, making a weird noise as it is wiped out. After both Kowalees are defeated, the heroes can jump over the second space in the floor (unless they wish to go into the space and collect the Bananas and the Banana Bunch in it), onto the small right side of the floor. Here, the Kongs can see a blueberry platform. A tilting banana, which does not tilt too far, can be seen after this blueberry platform. Two rings of Bananas move in a circular motion above this tilting banana. Wow, these rings appear again! They've appeared in Flutter Flyaway, Smokey Peak and now the Golden Temple! Also, a similar thing to this is the type of Bonus Room with three rings of Bananas moving in a circular motion at different speeds, which must be collected by bouncing on a moving trampoline. Wow what a biological "family"! Levels of classification return too! Yeah, but don't tell your teacher that! Anyway, the Kongs can jump on the blueberry platform. An arch of Bananas moves to the left of blueberry platform. However, hovering above the gap to the left of the Kongs for a moving set of Bananas is pretty worthless, unless you are "bananas" over Bananas and Banana Bunches and are planning to land back on the blueberry platform. Anyway, when the Kongs can jump onto the tilting banana, which is hardly even tilting much, the Kongs can jump onto it. Here, if the Kongs jump in the air repeatedly, they can collect the Bananas in the rings above them. If the Kongs do this constantly, they can end up collecting all Bananas in both rings. This causes a Puzzle Piece to appear above the banana platform. To collect the Puzzle Piece now, the Kongs should jump on the banana's left tip. When the tip rises as the banana tilts, the Kongs can jump to the Puzzle Piece. Anyway, from here, the Kongs can jump on a strawberry platform that appears to move towards a cherry on top of a tilting, rod-shaped platform. When the Kongs get close enough, they can jump onto the cherry on this rod-shaped platform. However, when the Kongs land on this cherry, it makes a warning sound that gets faster. It sounds like this: Duh...duh...duh, duh, duh..BOOM! Well, it doesn't make a "duhh" sound, however, that is what it sounds like if you make up something similar to it. Wha, wha, what happened in the "BOOM!" part? Well, the cherry exploded. So, the noise it makes is a warning that it is going to explode. The cherry explosion probably can hurt the Kongs and...,(your response) WHAT THE FREAK!!! I GOTTA GET OFF THIS PLATFORM!!! So, to avoid being caught in the cherry's explosion, the Kongs can jump onto a strawberry platform with a
Golden Temple 7

The Kongs jump over a Tiki Buzz after jumping from the first cherry on a tilting, rod-shaped platform in the level (as seen to the left of the strawberry platform in the picture). This first cherry is in the miss of exploding. Two more cherries on tilting, rod-shaped platforms can be seen to the right of the Tiki Buzz.

Banana Bunch above it. They can then jump onto a Tiki Buzz. From the Tiki Buzz the apes can hover onto a cherry on another tilting, rod-shaped platform. However, a Banana Bunch is above this cherry. Anyway, once the Kongs land on this cherry, they can quickly jump and hover onto another nearby cherry on a tilting, rod-shaped platform. From here, the Kongs can then jump onto a Tiki Buzz moving up and down ahead. From this Tiki Buzz, the apes can then high bounce onto a Tiki Tork moving up and down. From the Tiki Tork, the apes can high bounce onto one last Tiki Buzz of this area, which also moves up and down. From this Tiki Buzz, the apes can then high bounce and move right to land on a platform with a trail of six Bananas, a Tiki Doom, a Rawk, and an urn that can be pounded on for a collectible, most likely, on it. Here, the Kongs can aim to land on one of the enemies here. Hovering can aid them in doing so. After landing on one enemy, whether it is the Rawk or the Tiki Doom (which takes two more jumps to defeat) and defeating it, the Kongs can go ahead and defeat the other enemy on this platform, whether it is the Rawk or the Tiki Doom. After both enemies are defeated. Also, as the Kongs do so, a Tiki Seeker appears from behind a cherry on a tilting, rod-shaped platform ahead. It fires a blade-like projectile at them. The Kongs can dodge this projectile by moving out of its way or jumping over it. After this projectile has been dodged, the Kongs can go ahead and jump on a cherry on a tilting, rod-shaped platform with a Banana Bunch above it, which the Tiki Seeker appeared behind earlier. An arch of Bananas nears the Kongs from the small gap to their right and heads over them, most likely. Anyway, from this cherry on its tilting, rod-shaped platform, the Kongs can jump to another a cherry on its tilting, rod-shaped platform. Here, the Kongs can jump over one last small gap with onto a last cherry on its tilting, rod-shaped platform with a Banana Bunch above it. Here, the Kongs can quickly jump and hover onto a platform with a trail of six Bananas, a Tiki Doom and a dandelion that can be blown on for a collectible, most likely on it. The Kongs can aim to land on the Tiki Doom, for if they land on the platform itself, chances are they can get hit by the Tiki Doom. After landing on the Tiki Doom, the apes can jump on the enemy two more times. However, while doing so, they should dodge the blade-like projectile fired from a Tiki Seeker above the gap ahead before the strawberry platform. Anyway, after the Kongs defeat the Tiki Doom and dodge the Tiki Seeker's projectile, the heroes can move toward this platform's right edge. A strawberry platform can be seen ahead moving up and down. The Kongs can jump onto this strawberry platform. A Banana Bunch falls from the sky onto this platform. Hmmm, that's odd. Normally Banana Bunches are already on these platforms when we approach them. Another strawberry platform moves up and down ahead, however, it moves in the opposite direction of the strawberry platform the Kongs are on. When this strawberry platform gets low enough, the Kongs can jump on it. Strangely, another Banana Bunch falls onto this platform. After collecting this Banana Bunch, the Kongs can jump onto the third strawberry platform of this area which moves the same direction as the first strawberry platform. Two Tiki Seekers do attack the Kongs sometime between here, and the Kongs must dodge their projectiles with jumps. Anyway, here, a Banana Bunch will fall onto this platform! What the barnacles is going on here! After the Banana Bunch is collected here, the Kongs could jump to a platform with two Rawks, a dandelion that can be blown on for a collectible, most likely, and two Banana Bunches above it, however, there is a distraction. What is it? A BANANA BUNCH FALLS ON THE STRAWBERRY PLATFORM BEHIND THE KONGS (the middle strawberry)!!! So, the Kongs should jump back onto the middle strawberry to collect this Banana Bunch. Here, a Banana Bunch falls on the first strawberry platform. The Kongs can then jump back onto the first strawberry platform and collect the Banana Bunch here. Here, a Banana Bunch falls on the middle strawberry. The Kongs can jump on the middle strawberry to collect the Banana Bunch on it. Now, a Banana Bunch falls on the third strawberry platform! Is this the game of "Back and Forth"?! Anyway, the Kongs should jump on the third strawberry platform and collect the Banana Bunch on it. Here, a Puzzle Piece falls on the middle strawberry! Well, that annoying "game" was worth something! The Kongs can jump back onto the middle platform and collect the Puzzle Piece on it. From here, the apes can then jump back onto the third strawberry platform, and then they can jump onto the platform with two Rawks, two Banana Bunches above it, etc on it. The Kongs can aim to land on one of the platform's Rawks. Hovering can aid the Kongs in doing so. After landing on one Rawk, the apes can try to jump onto the other Rawk of this platform. After both Rawks are defeated, the apes can move to the right side of a floor. A floor can be seen ahead. Even though not all of this floor is seen from here, the floor has two deep spaces in it. The two spaces, this time, have nothing in them. Also, these two spaces are separated away from each other by a large raised part of floor with four Bananas and an urn that can be pounded on for a collectible, most likely, on it. Anyway, we are moving back to the right side of the platform the Kongs are on. A Kowalee appears over the left side of this floor ahead and throws bombs at the Kongs. The heroes can pick up a bomb and throw it at the enemy to defeat it. Once hit by a bomb, the enemy makes a weird noise as it gets wiped out. After this Kowalee is defeated, the apes can go ahead and jump onto the left side of this floor, which holds two Bananas on it. Here, a Kowalee appears over the large raised part of floor ahead and throws bombs at the Kongs. The Kongs can pick up a bomb and throws it at the Kowalee. Once defeated, the Kowalee makes a weird noise as it is wiped out. After the Kowalee is defeated, the heroes can jump over the small space in this floor, onto the large raised part of floor in the middle of it. Here, a Kowalee nears the Kongs from over the right side of this floor ahead and throws bombs at the Kongs. The Kongs can pick up one of the bombs this enemy throws at them and throw it at the enemy. Once the Kowalee is defeated, it makes a weird noise as it is wiped out. Congrats! You just killed all Kowalees in the Golden Temple! Yo, ain't that a g thang! Swag! Anyway, after the Kowalee is defeated, the Kongs can jump over the second space in this floor, onto the right side of the floor, which holds two Bananas on it. From here, the apes can see a blueberry platform with a strawberry platform after it. The strawberry platform holds a Banana on it. A banana (platform) positioned upside down is after this strawberry platform, even though not much of it can be seen from where the Kongs are. So the Kongs can go ahead and jump on the blueberry platform. From here, the apes can jump on the strawberry platform. Now from here, the apes can then jump onto the banana platform positioned upside down. Here, the Kongs can notice an arch of Bananas coming from the gap to their left, which they just crossed. The arch of Bananas moves over this banana platform the apes are on. Yes! We can go collect some Bananas by jumping! FREEZE!!! STOP!!! There is a distraction. Shortly after the Kongs land here, three Tiki Seekers appear: one above the gap to the right of the Kongs, which is to the on the Kongs' right, on above the banana platform the Kongs are on, which is located above the Kongs slightly to the right, and one above the gap to the left of the Kongs, which is located above the Kongs slightly to the left. Uh oh. WE'RE SURROUNDED!!! WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO?! WE'RE GONNA DIE!!! Wait, you may not die. There are two choices: the Kongs can either jump over all three blade-like projectiles the Tiki Seekers fire at them or just jump onto the blueberry
Golden Temple 10

The Kongs dodge on of the blade-like projectiles fired by one of the three Tiki Seekers above this banana platform positioned upside down. The Tiki Seeker that fired this object is to the right of the Kongs. Also, a falling "Pac-Man" orange can be seen about to fall between the two blueberry platforms seen ahead. Wow, this really is one fruit world!

platform after this banana platform before the Tiki Seekers fire. They won't have to do much dodging here. Anyway, after dodging this (only for players who chose strategy 1, which is jumping over all three blade-like projectiles the Tiki Seekers fire at them), the heroes can jump onto the blueberry platform after the banana platform they are on, which holds a Banana on it. Another blueberry platform is after this blueberry platform the Kongs are on. Yeah, the heroes could just jump to the blueberry platform...BUT!!! There is a problem. An orange with a part cut out of it falls through the space between these two blueberry platforms every few seconds. So, the Kongs should wait for an orange to fall through the space between the two blueberry platforms while jumping on the blueberry platform since it moves down with the Kongs' weight (did I mention that blueberry platforms move down a bit when landed on?? Ha ha ha ha haa!). When it does, the Kongs can jump onto the next blueberry platform. Wait, but that wasn't an orange! That's a falling Pac-Man orange! Why do we say that? Well, the piece that is cut out of the orange makes it look like a falling Pac-Man. So what happens if the Kongs get hit by a falling orange? Well, most likely, the falling orange will push the Kongs into the gap below it as it falls if they get hit by it, causing them to lose a life and restart the level from the beginning. Falling oranges do warn players when they are going to fall. If the player happens to spot puny falling rocks (or is it poop? Just kidding) coming down from the sky between two platforms, it is the signal warning players an orange is about to fall between those two platforms. Anyway, on this blueberry platform, the Kongs can see a strawberry platform that moves up and down with a Banana on it. A tilting half of a banana is after this strawberry platform. However, every few seconds a falling orange falls through the space between the strawberry platform and the tilting half of a banana platform. So, when the strawberry platform comes low enough, the Kongs can jump on it. From here, the apes should wait for a point where an orange just fell through the space between the strawberry and the tilting half of a banana platform and the banana platform moves low enough to be jumped onto. When something like this happens, the Kongs can go ahead and jump on this tilting half of a banana, which has a Banana Bunch on it. Ok, players who are playing the game and reading this at the same time should pause the game. Done yet?! Anyway, after this tilting half of a banana, there is a Tiki Tork and a Tiki Buzz both flying up and down, however in opposite directions, just so you know before you end up putting yourself in danger trying to find out what is after this tilting half of a banana. Ok, unpause the game! Anyway, from this tilting half of a banana, the Kongs can jump and hover onto the Tiki Tork. From the Tiki Tork, the Kongs can high bounce off of it and move right to land onto the Tiki Buzz. From this enemy, the heroes can then high bounce off of it and move right to land on a blueberry platform with a Banana on it. Ok, pause the game again. Ahead of this blueberry platform, there are three more blueberry platforms. A falling orange falls in the spaces between this first and second blueberry platform, the second and third blueberry platforms and the third and fourth blueberry platforms one after another. Ok, just so you know. Now unpause the game. Here, the Kongs should wait for an orange to fall between this blueberry platform they are on and the next (second) one of this area. While doing so, the Kongs should keep their balance by jumping repeatedly on this blueberry platform so it doesn't go down too low. When a falling orange falls between these two blueberry platforms, the Kongs can go ahead and jump onto the next blueberry platform, which holds a Banana Bunch on it. Here, they should wait for a falling "Pac-Man" orange (even if it is mentioned or not, all falling oranges are falling "Pac-Man" oranges, meaning they all have a cut in them, which makes them look like Pac-Man) to fall through the space between this blueberry platform and the next (third) blueberry platform in this area. The Kongs should keep the blueberry platform they are on from going down too low by jumping on it repeatedly. When the falling orange falls in the space between these blueberry platforms, the Kongs can jump onto the next blueberry platform, which holds a Banana on it. Here, the Kongs must wait again for a falling orange to fall through this space between this blueberry platform and the next (fourth and final blueberry platform of this area) blueberry platform. To keep the blueberry platform from moving down too low, the Kongs can jump up and down repeatedly on the blueberry platform they are on. When the falling orange falls through the space between these two blueberry platforms, the Kongs can jump onto the fourth and final blueberry platform in this area, as well as the final blueberry platform in the level (just so you know, you already passed the last cherry/half of a banana platform in the level. However, that is not the last banana platform in the level; there's more to see/pass). This blueberry platform holds a Banana Bunch on it. Here, the player should pause the game...AGAIN!!! What is it now?! Well, a dangerous area is ahead. Four banana platforms are ahead, even though not many of them can be seen from the blueberry platform the Kongs are on. These banana platforms move in a circle, unlike the other ones seen earlier that tilt. However instead of moving in a circular motion horizontally, they move in a circular motion positioned vertically! What the barnacles is going on here?! Are we near the end of the level?! Let's find out. Also, one more thing to tell you. In the spaces between the first and second banana platforms, the second and third banana platforms and the third and fourth banana platforms, there is a falling orange that falls through those spaces every few seconds. The falling oranges fall one after another, and the banana platforms circle on after another, just so know. Ok, unpause the game. So, when the first banana platform comes down and reveals its surface, the heroes can jump on it. Soon, a falling orange will fall between the space between this banana platform and the next (second) banana platform of this area. After this falling orange passes between these two bananas, the Kongs can go ahead and immediately jump onto the second banana platform. The Kongs will see another falling orange fall through the space between this banana platform and the next (third) banana platform of this area. Quickly, after the falling orange does so, the apes should jump onto this banana platform. Here, a falling orange falls through the space between this banana platform and the next (fourth and final) banana platform of this area. When it does so, the Kongs should immediately jump onto the next banana platform. A strawberry platform is ahead, however, there is a distraction. Close to the very end of this circling banana platform, there is the fifth and final Puzzle Piece of the level. To get this Puzzle Piece, the Kongs must stand on this banana platform until a sign appears to top left of the screen says a Puzzle Piece has been collected (that is because the player cannot see really that the Kongs have collected the Puzzle Piece, due to the circling banana platform). When this sign appears saying a Puzzle Piece has been collected (the sign will say 1/5, 2/5, 3/5, 4/5, or 5/5 depending on how many Puzzle Pieces you have collected already), the Kongs should immediately jump onto this strawberry platform. A skull Barrel Cannon is above the gap to the right of the Kongs slightly to the right (skull Barrel Cannons/Auto-Fire Barrels destroy themselves/explode, whatever you want to call it, after firing the Kongs). The Kongs can jump off this strawberry platform and into the skull Barrel Cannon. The Kongs can then fire onto a large platform with a Barrel Cannon above it and a beautiful banana circle similar to the one at the beginning of the level in the background, however, this one is a circle, not an arch. Maybe we are near or at the end of the level...Also, congrats! You've passed all fruit platforms in the level! This means, no more falling oranges, blueberries, cherries, strawberries or whole/halves of banana platforms are found after this! So this is the end of the level! Oh, we're going to miss all that beauty, beautiful music, and fun in this level! The Kongs can jump into the Barrel Cannon above them. Here, the camera zooms out a bit, revealing two more Barrel Cannons: one above the Barrel Cannon the Kongs are in to the left diagonally, and the other above the Barrel Cannon the Kongs are in to the right diagonally. So if one had to draw a line between these three Barrel Cannons, it would be shaped like a triangle. Anyway, the Kongs can fire into the Barrel Cannon above the Kongs and then from there fire into the one to the left of them. In this Barrel Cannon, the Kongs can fire into the Barrel Cannon they first jumped into when they got onto this large platform. The Kongs must then repeat the process in firing through these three Barrel Cannons constantly to spin the circular object in the background and bring up a large golden temple with a monkey statue head and beautiful golden palm trees around it. Right before the temple comes up all the way, the three Barrel Cannons move closer and closer to one another. Soon, a noise will be heard when the temple is up all the way. The beautiful monkey statue on the temple's top opens its mouth, letting out a strange Slot Machine Barrel, which lands over the large platform the apes landed on earlier (which had the three Barrel Cannons above it). Wait! Not that word "monkey statue" again! Ok, the Volcano brought many memories of the monkey statues,
Golden Temple 12

The beautiful golden temple with the monkey statue on top and golden palm trees on its side has been raised. The Kongs are preparing to jump into this mysterious Slot Machine Barrel with only one option: a mirror in a purple background. Hmmm, wonder what that unlocks...

but don't tell me that the Golden Temple does so too! What on Donkey Kong Island is up with these monkey statues?! Is the Ruins' second level, Button Bash really that famous and special?! Who knows. It could be. Anyway, what's up with this Slot Machine Barrel. It's interior doesn't spin; all it has is a mirror in a purple background. The Kongs should jump into this Slot Machine Barrel, causing them to complete the level. WOO HOO!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! YOU'VE COMPLETED EVERY SINGLE LEVEL OF DONKEY KONG COUNTRY RETURNS!!! IT'S THE END!!! What's the reward?! Well, the purple mirror is the signal showing players that they've unlocked the new mode, Mirror Mode. This mode reverses everything in each level of DKCR. Donkey Kong must go through and complete the levels without the aid of Diddy Kong and with only one Heart. Wow! That's challenging! Anyway, sadly it's over. Yeah, we're going to miss all the beauty, beautiful music, and fun of the level. Then again, memories can be brought back by the music link and the gallery pictures located below. The fun can only be replaced by playing the level again. (Your Response) Also, some of those fruits and enemies in this level were annoying...

Secrets

Puzzle Pieces

  1. GoldenTemple165

The Kongs jump onto the third banana platform moving in a circular motion. The next (fourth and final) banana platform of this area, as well as in the level, can be seen with the fifth Puzzle Piece on it. Also, a falling "Pac-Man" orange and a strawberry platform can be seen in the picture. How do you get the fifth Puzzle Piece? Read on!

On the second solid platform in the game, the Kongs can spot an urn covered in clouds at the bottom of this platform. If the apes pound the ground beneath the urn, it shoots out something. A Puzzle Piece then falls from the sky onto the platform the Kongs are on. It can be collected by simply running into it.
  2. Shortly after the first Puzzle Piece, the apes can end up on a platform with a strawberry platform moving left to right high above it. An ENORMOUS gap is after this platform and it is filled with blueberry platforms. There are two rows of blueberry platforms, each with a Banana on them: an upper row with five blueberry platforms, and a lower row with four blueberry platforms. The upper row's blueberry platforms cannot be reached with a jump from one of the lower row's blueberry platforms. So, if the Kongs use the lower rows blueberry platforms to cross a gap, they can end up on a platform with a beautiful waterfall on it. Here, the Kongs can defeat a Rawk here, but they should jump over and ignore the Tiki Doom here. When the Tiki Doom reaches the left side of this floor, the apes can jump on it. If the heroes high bounce off the enemy when it is at left side of this platform, they can move left to land on the fifth blueberry platform of the upper row's blueberry platforms. If the Kongs make their way onto the first blueberry platform of the upper row, they can cause a Puzzle Piece to appear on the strawberry platform moving left to right constantly above the platform seen earlier. The Kongs can jump to this platform to collect the Puzzle Piece. So really, the trick was to jump on every blueberry platform above this ENORMOUS gap, which causes them to collect the Banana on it. So this is what caused the Puzzle Piece to appear, meaning that a skipped blueberry platform will not cause the Puzzle Piece to appear. Also, just so you know, the Kongs will be attacked by Tiki Seekers while trying to collect this Puzzle Piece. After collecting the Puzzle Piece, the heroes can make their way back onto the platform with the beautiful waterfall on it.
  3. After maneuvering around some more platforms, the Kongs can end up on a tilting banana platform that doesn't tilt too much. Here, there are two rings of Bananas above the Kongs. If the Kongs collect every Banana in both rings of Bananas by jumping up and down on this banana platform, a Puzzle Piece appears high above the platform. To get this Puzzle Piece, the Kongs can jump on the left tip of this banana platform. When it (the banana's left tip) rises high enough, the Kongs can jump to the Puzzle Piece.
  4. Shortly after the last cherry on top of a tilting, rod-shaped platform, the Kongs will come up to a strawberry platform after a solid platform. They can jump here. A Banana Bunch falls onto this strawberry. When the apes collect the Banana Bunch here, a Banana Bunch falls on the next strawberry platform to their right. The Kongs can jump here, causing them to collect the Banana Bunch on this platform. Guess what? A BANANA BUNCH FALLS ON THE STRAWBERRY PLATFORM TO THE RIGHT OF THE KONGS!!! The Kongs can jump onto this strawberry platform and collect the Banana Bunch here. A Banana Bunch then falls onto the strawberry platform behind the Kongs! If the heroes continue to jump from strawberry platform to strawberry platform constantly to collect the Banana Bunch that falls on them, a Puzzle Piece will appear on the strawberry in the middle (there are only three strawberries in this area). The Kongs can then jump to the middle strawberry to collect the Puzzle Piece that is here. They can then proceed after doing so.
  5. This last Puzzle Piece is close to the edge of the last circling banana platform in the level, which is also the last banana platform in the level. Here, to get the Puzzle Piece, the Kongs must stand on this banana platform as it moves until they see a sign showing they've collected a Puzzle Piece (it will say 1/5, 2/5, 3/5, 4/5, or 5/5 depending on how many Puzzle Pieces the Kongs already collected). When this sign appears, the Kongs have collected the Puzzle Piece and they can immediately jump onto the strawberry platform ahead.

Trivia

  • The beautiful music that plays in the sky area of the level is a remix of the Nintendo Entertainment System game Donkey Kong Jr.'s intro and stage themes. Click this link to play the Golden Temple's sky area music: Golden Temple's Sky Area Music
  • The tablet that is at the entrance of the level where the rare orbs are placed resembles that of an Aztec Calendar.
  • Cranky Kong briefly gives a reference to the Golden Temple. He gives a rumor of a Golden Banana that warps people to another dimension. He thinks this a good way to get the Kongs off of his mind for a while.
  • There were supposed to be more levels than this sky level. They were known as Banana Coaster (which involves the Kongs riding on a Minecart through the level with several banana structures), Wacky Blocks, Pudding Wonderland, Paper Cutouts, Virtual Boy Tracks (a Minecart level made entirely of red outlines on black, as a homage to the Virtual Boy), and Crackers and Pudding. These were not included into the game, probably due to time constraints (constraints means "force", definition gotten from thesaurus.com.
