Captain Falcon in Outside the Ancient Ruins.

Outside the Ancient Ruins is the twentieth level in The Subspace Emissary. It is a short level. Outside the Ancient Ruins only has one feature, which is a giant cargo that hovers in the air known as the Smash Skiff. The player battles enemies on this large cargo. The level is a sunny level with a volcano in the background and torn up ruins.


Plot

When the player plays this level for the first time, the first cutscene plays, showing many Pikmin pecking something, which a change in the camera angle reveals to be a giant R.O.B. in a dormant state. Further changes in the view show hundreds of Pikmin attacking it. The R.O.B. wakes up and spins its torso using Arm Rotor, sending all but a few Pikmin to their deaths upon contact with the ground. The camera shows a terrified-looking Olimar on the ground, surrounded by about a dozen Pikmin. One of the Pikmin, a red one, taps Olimar's leg to get his attention and points behind him. Olimar turns to see the Blue Falcon racing down ruined columns. Suddenly, the vehicle stops and its hatch opens up sending its occupant flying forward. With a shout of "FALCON PUNCH!!" the camera shows Captain Falcon performing Falcon Punch. The punch lands between the giant R.O.B.'s eyes, knocking it over and defeating it. Captain Falcon's move sends him sliding along the ground, accidentally killing all of Olimar's Pikmin except the red one by his side. The Captains team up for the level at this point. After the first part of the stage, the second cutscene plays showing the new duo arriving at a cliff overlooking the great ocean of the World of Trophies. They see a flying platform, guarded by Primids, that also holds the Trophy of Donkey Kong in chains. The camera cuts to show an Arwing flying after the platform, flown by Falco but also containing a very cramped Diddy Kong. Falco performs a barrel roll, allowing Diddy to drop out of the Arwing. To keep himself in the air, he fires up his Rocketbarrel Pack. He then fires his Peanut Popguns at the Primids on the platform, sending them flying. Seeing this action, Captain Falcon smiles, grabs the, once again, terrified Olimar , and jumps off the cliff toward the platform. Diddy Kong lands on the platform, and immediately touches the base of Donkey Kong's Trophy. The revived Donkey Kong breaks out of his chains. The Captains land on the platform next to the ape buddies. Falco flies off, giving a thumbs up. More Primids are seen forming on the platform, at which the four team up to defeat the enemies. After defeating the Subspace Army enemies, the platform flies into a hangar on the Isle of the Ancients, and the level is clear. Donkey Kong, Captain Falcon, and Olimar all join your team after that.


Walkthrough

When the player begins, he will be on a floor with trees in the background and also a Hocotate Ship. When the player moves he will encounter a R.O.B. Sentry. After it is defeated, the player should continue moving to encounter another R.O.B. Sentry. After it is defeated, the player will reach a higher part of floor with a R.O.B. Launcher on it. The player should jump on the higher part of floor, and defeat the R.O.B. Launcher. After it is defeated, the player should jump on a higher part of the floor, and continue moving. The player will soon move over a bridge. The background will show a volcano, trees, and ruins in a sunny background. On the bridge 1-2 R.O.B. Sentries will move toward the player. After it/they are defeated, the player should press down on the Wii Remote's D-pad. He will drop through the bridge and land on a floor with a Door. A Shellpod will fall here. After the Shellpod is defeated, the player should enter the Door. He will be in a room with a bluish background and branches standing tall. However, in here, the player is not on a floor. If he is not on a floor, where could the player be?! The player will appear in this room falling. A Trophy is also falling. When the Trophy comes near the player, the player should press the attack button to grab it. The player must grab it before it falls through a very small gap. The gap is on splits a floor at the bottom of the room. If the player fails to grab the trophy, he can exit the room and reenter the room. After the Trophy has been collected, the player should exit out the room. Outside, he should defeat the Shellpod that shortly falls to the floor. After it is defeated, the player should move left, and jump to a higher part of floor. Here, the player should jump to an even higher part of floor. Now, the player should jump up top the bridge and defeat a R.O.B. Sentry on the bridge. After it is defeated, the player should continue moving. He will see a Turquoise Cube in midair and hear the noise of a Roader. After hearing this noise, the player should turn around and hit the approaching Roader. After the Roader is defeated, the player should bust open the Turquoise Cube in midair. It will ALWAYS give the player a trophy of the Hocotate Ship. After the Trophy has been collected, the player should move on. He will shortly fall to a slightly lower part of floor. A R.O.B. Blaster will near the player. After it has been defeated, the player should move a little to find a curved gap. The noise of a Roader is then heard, and then a Roader is seen jumping, and landing right at the edge of the gap. After the Roader is defeated, the player should jump over a gap. He should jump on a higher part of floor where, a Gamyga will appear on a higher part of floor than that high part of floor. The player should jump to the Gamyga, and attack its head or bases. A R.O.B. Blaster will near the player fron behind him. Once the enemies are defeated, the player should continue moving. Shortly after moving, the player will encounter an Auroros. After it is defeated, the player should continue moving to find another Auroros shortly. After the Auroros is defeated, the player should continue moving until he reaches the end of the floor next to a ladder. A Roader will charge at the player from here. After it is defeated, before climbing the ladder, the player should think if he wants to go back and capture some enemies with Trophy Stands, he should go back to the hidden Door with the falling trophy and enter it. He can reenter it until he has collected all the enemies he wished to collect. Anyway, the player should climb the ladder. He will enter a forced battle against Auroros, Shellpods, R.O.B. Sentries and a R.O.B. Blaster. A R.O.B. Launcher will fall during the battle, but they are not part of the forced battle. A swarm of Auroros will fly at the start of the forced battle, two of which divebomb to the ground. The player should use up aerial attacks to defeat them. After all enemies are defeated, the player can defeat the R.O.B. Launcher that appeared in the forced battle. After it is defeated, another R.O.B. Launcher will fall to earth. After it is defeated, the player should continue running. He will shortly encounter a higher part of floor with a R.O.B. Sentry on it. The player should jump on the higher part of floor and defeat the R.O.B. Sentry there. A R.O.B. Blaster will appear from behind the player hovering. After it is defeated, the player should notice brown brick blocks above the player. The player should run to end of the brick block group. R.O.B. Launchers are on this set of brick blocks. A Gamyga will appear on a higher part of floor to the right of the player. Now, the player should jump onto a brick block set and defeat the R.O.B. Launcher there. After it is defeated, the player should jump onto the higher set of brick blocks and defeat the R.O.B. Launcher there. After it is defeated, the player should jump to a Door in midair and press the jump button to enter it. The player will be in a room with branches standing tall in the background, and a falling block bridge ahead of him. The player should jump over the falling blocks and go to the other side. An Orange Cube is here. Ignore the Cube and notice two Stickers or a Trophy on one of the falling blocks near the end. The player should run/jump here and quickly collect the collectible (s) before it falls in the gap below. After doing so, the player should jump to the Orange Cube and bust it open. The player should collect its collectible (s) and exit out the room. Outside, the player should defeat the R.O.B. Launchers on the bricks. After they are defeated, the player should land on the floor and go to the Gamyga. The player should jump to the higher part of floor and defeat the Gamyga. After it is defeated, the player should continue moving to find a Door. This will take the player to a large moving platform that circles an island with a volcano in midair known as the Smash Skiff. Here, the player will battle Primids, Sword Primids, Scope Primids, Trowlons, Bombeds, Shaydas, Spaaks, and Metal Primids. After all the enemies are defeated, the level is complete, and Donkey Kong, Captain Falcon and Olimar will join your team.


Music

  • The first part of the first cutscene with the Pikmin attacking the Giant R.O.B. and the first half of the level with Gamygas, Roaders, Shellpods etc- Main Theme (Pikmin) plays.
  • During Captain Falcon's introduction during the first cutscene- Mute City plays.
