Poison Water, also known as Toxic Water, is a dangerous obstacle that appears in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Super Mario Galaxy, and Super Mario Galaxy 2. It is a purple or dark green, poisonous water that instantly kills any player who falls into it. In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, it is purple in color. It only appears in World 5, however, it appears in most of the world's levels. Mega Wigglers are the only enemies who seem to be immune to Poison Water. In Super Mario Galaxy, Poison Water is dark green. It appears in the Bubble Breeze Galaxy as well as the Toy Time Galaxy's Purple Coin Challenge. Poison Water is one of the obstacles that instantly kills Mario/Luigi, the others being Quicksand, Space, Black Holes and Dark Matter. In Super Mario Galaxy 2, Poison Water is the same dark green color. It only appears on the Swamp Planet of the Boo Moon Galaxy, and the 8-Bit Luigi Planet of the Mario Squared Galaxy. Since, Poison Water kills any player and they cannot save themselves when they land in it, it must be avoided at all costs. In the Bubble Breeze Galaxy, Mario must avoid touching the Mines, otherwise he will fall into the Poison Water and lose a life. Also, in this galaxy, Poison Water is a different color than its appearances in other galaxies. In this galaxy, Poison Water is a swirly, olive-green color with purple in the mix. In the Toy Time Galaxy and Mario Squared Galaxy, Mario must avoid falling into the Poison Water while collecting 100 Purple Coins. If the player falls into the Poison Water, they must repeat and try collecting the 100 Purple Coins all over again. In Boo Moon Galaxy, Mario must travel on Snake Blocks across the swamp of Poison Water. If he falls into the Poison Water, depending on where he fell, he must repeat traveling on the Snake Blocks again. When the player falls into it in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, it behaves the same way lava does, and causes the player's character to do a "burning" animation, and kills them. In the Super Mario Galaxy series, falling into will cause the player's character to fall in and drown, and subsequently lose a life.
