A Screen KO is a type of Star KO that instead of shown in the background screaming, you hit the screen and fall off, being KOed afterwards. Screen KOs were bonuses in Super Smash Bros. Melee if anyone got Koed that way. The Fighting teams (Fighting Wire Frames, Fighting Alloy Team) and Adventure Mode/The Subspace Emissary enemies cannot be Koed this way. They aren't even Star Koed. Instead they are KOed by hitting the upwards blast line. Sometimes if you KO two opponents (upwards blast line only) they will be Screen Koed in order or if you KO them this way at the same time they will both fall as two characters. They will look mixed up. If you still don't get it, say for instance, Kirby and Mario were both Screen Koed at the same time. When they appear, Mario's and Kirby's body will be mixed up (it will look mixed up) and fall at the same time. This has been fixed in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. For Nintendo 3DS and Wii U where two characters will be KOed beside each other on the screen, as shown in the picture to the right. In these two games, thanks to the upper blast line that was not featured in Melee, Star KOs and Screen KOs occur much less often due to normal upper blast line KOs. Also, Screen KOs and Star KOs have been increased in Super Smash Bros. For Nintendo 3DS and Wii U to last the same amount of time. This means if two characters are KOed, one is Star KOed and the other is Screen KOed, they will both be KOed at the same time. This can result in Sudden Death if two characters are KOed at the same time at their last stock. Characters who are Screen KOed in Super Smash Bros. For Nintendo 3DS and Wii U no longer make a sound when they hit the screen and slide off of the screen instead of fall off of it in the former games.
