Shelds are enemies in Kirby's Return to Dream Land. They are small, blue and green, spherical creatures who wear a large metal helmet on their heads. Shelds also have pink faces, black eyes and green feet. These enemies are not that common in the game, however, some can be found in levels such as White Wafers. Should a Sheld see Kirby or one of his buddies (Meta Knight, King Dedede, Bandana Waddle Dee), it will attempt to charge and ram into them. If any one of the heroes come in contact with the charging Sheld will take damage. Shelds are strange enemies. In order to defeat them, their helmet must first be removed by using various attacks. After the Sheld's helmet is removed, the true creature is revealed. The Sheld will become defenseless and run around aimlessly since its helmet is gone. After this, a Sheld can either be defeated with more attacks or Inhaled. If a Sheld is Inhaled, regardless of whether its helmet is on or not, the player will not receive a Copy Ability for doing so.
- Sheld's name is probably a combination of "shell" and "shield".
- Shelds resemble and attack greatly like the Shellpods of Super Smash Bros. Brawl's Adventure Mode. Both Shelds and Shellpods are blue-green creatures who wear a type of armor over their heads and bodies. Both Shelds and Shellpods use their armor to attack. Also, Shelds and Shellpods cannot be defeated with their armor on, so their armor must first be removed. Last but not least, Shelds and Shellpods will become defenseless and run around when their armor is removed (even though No-Armor Shellpods still try to attack the player).
