Space Storm Galaxy-1-

The Space Storm Galaxy.

The Space Storm Galaxy is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy 2. It revolves around many mechanical objects. It has an abandoned rocket-ship that serves as one of the planets, and a tower shaped slightly like a Topman. Time Switches are introduced here, which slow down time during mission 2, "To the Top of Topman's Tower". Bob-ombs, Spiky Topmen, and Micro Topmen are the most common enemies here. The galaxy's main obstacle is electricity, with many Amps and electric barriers spread over the galaxy. A new enemy, known as the Electricity Shooter, appears in this galaxy's Electric Field, firing electric blasts at Mario/Luigi. There are no Prankster Comets are here, until the player unlocks the Green Power Stars. To unlock this galaxy, defeat Bowser in Bowser's Gravity Gauntlet.

Planets/Areas

Starting Planets

Galaxysmall 2791-1-

Mario on the Starting Planets.

These two planets are large glass spheres with a Pull Star on each one of them. They resemble the "Pull Star Planets" from galaxies such as the Space Junk Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. Five Pull Stars and a Launch Star are found at the top of one of the planets. Four Amps are circling around the second planet. During "To the Top of Topman's Tower", the Amps are moving rapidly. A Time Switch is found on the second planet to slow them down.

Abandoned Rocketship Planet

Galaxysmall 2799-1-

Mario on the Abandoned Rocketship Planet.

This cylindrical planet looks very much like a rocketship because of its several "wings" on its sides. There are many electric barriers on the planet. Most are stationary, but some encircle the planet. There are orange platforms also encircling the planet. The gravitational force of this planet is very strong, meaning the player cannot fall to his death here. The Comet Medal is located here, and it is very close to an electric barrier. The Launch Star, on the other side of where player lands (the player lands close to the rocketship's front; the Launch Star is near the rocketship's back), takes the player to the Bob-omb Planet.

Bob-omb Planet

Galaxysmall 2810-1-

Mario on the Bob-omb Planet.

This planet is shaped like a spool of thread, however, where the "thread" is placed (the middle) is replaced with glass, electric barriers coming from one side of the planet to the other, a glass cage, and red and black floors, all seen in the picture. The electric barriers are the main hazards here. Because where the "thread" is supposed to be is made of glass" the player can see that there is an interior part of the planet. In the interior, there is a machine that spawns Bob-ombs. The player should run underneath the Bob-omb and lure it to the glass cage to open up the opening (which is a hole). The player can then fall in where he can collect a Life Shroom just after falling. There is a Tip Network on the outer part of the planet. Anyway, the Launch Star inside takes the player to the Topman Planet. For an unknown reason, two Black Holes are on the outsides of the planet, which the player cannot access, however, they serve no purpose.

Topman Planet

Galaxysmall 2918-1-

Mario on the Topman Planet.

This planet is a long metallic gray planet with several holes surrounded by electric barriers. There is a spawner spawning Bob-ombs which can be thrown to destroy the numerous cages on the planet. Micro and Spiky Topmen spawn endlessly on this planet. The Electric Field Area is near this planet. During the "C'mere, Topman" mission, the Silver Gearmo is here and will give Mario a Power Star if Mario lures a Spiky Topman to his trap.

Electric Field Area

Galaxysmall 2826-1-

Mario in the Electric Field Area.

This area is located right after the Topman Planet. It is located high above the Bob-omb Planet. This area is full of Amps and Electricity Shooters which Mario must avoid. At the end of the area is an electric barrier circling around the Power Star.

Topman Tower Planet

Galaxysmall 2864-1-

Mario on the middle part of the Topman Tower Planet during a Time Switch's effect.

Galaxysmall 2870-1-

Mario on the top part of the Topman Tower Planet.

This planet is a metallic tower shaped slightly like a Topman. The highest part of the tower is shaped exactly like the tower from the Buoy Base Galaxy, but platforms that spin much more rapidly. This planet is only visited during "To the Top of Topman's Tower". Platforms and enemies here are moving swiftly. However, there are many Time Switches which Mario/Luigi can Ground Pound to slow down the platforms and enemies so that they can proceed with ease. At the top, the player will battle Micro Topmen and Spiky Topmen. This makes a Spring Topman (a green Topman) appear which Mario can use to reach the Power Star. Other Spring Topmen are found here to help the player reach the top of the tower.

Missions

Follow Me, Bob-omb

Galaxysmall 2833-1-

Mario near the Power Star.

Mario will land on one of the Starting Planets. He must use the Pull Stars to pull him to the other planet, then use the rotating Pull Stars above him to reach the Launch Star. Mario will land on the Abandoned Rocketship Planet. Here, Mario must fall, avoiding electric barriers, which is not an easy task, until he lands on an orange platform. Mario must jump from orange platform to orange platform until he nears the Launch Star. Mario should jump to it and use it. It will take Mario to the Bob-omb Planet. Mario will see a glass cage underneath him. He should run over the glass here, jumping over electric barriers until he reaches a Bob-omb near the end of the floor on the inside of the planet. The Bob-omb will start to follow Mario. Mario should run back to the glass cage while avoiding the electric barriers. When he nears the glass cage, Mario should run over it. The Bob-omb will soon explode, shattering the glass cage into pieces which disappear. Mario should fall down the hole which the glass cage was covering and collect a Life Shroom nearby. Now he should run to the Bob-omb's area, however, he should ignore the Bob-omb and take the nearby Launch Star to the Topman Planet. Here, Mario should run until he finds a glass cage with a 1-Up Mushroom trapped inside blocking his path. Mario should throw a Bob-omb at the cage and let it explode to destroy it. Mario can collect the 1-Up Mushroom. When he reaches the planet's end, Mario should run left where he will see a Pull Star over space. Mario should use the Pull Star. He is in the Electric Field Area. Mario should use the Pull Stars to pull him to the Power Star. However he must avoid the Amps and Electricity Shooters. At the end, an electric barrier is circling the Power Star. Mario should cautiously use a Pull Star behind the Power Star to pull him into the Star. This mission's Midway Point is very far out; on the Topman Planet. This means Mario must survive until he gets here.

To the Top of Topman's Tower

Galaxysmall 2872-1-

Mario near the Power Star of "To the Top of Topman's Tower".

During this mission, platforms and enemies are moving rapidly. Mario/ Luigi should use the Pull Star to pull to and land on the second Starting Planet, where he will notice the Amps moving at breakneck speed. There is a Time Switch which Mario/Luigi can Ground Pound to slow down the Amps. The player should use the Pull Stars to reach the Launch Star, which, this time, takes the player to the Topman Planet. When the player arrives Mario/Luigi will notice another Time Switch and Water Shooters shooting bubbles with EXTREME SPEED. Mario should Ground Pound the Time Switch to slow the Water Shooters down and Spin a lever switch to open the gates. Mario/Luigi will climb some more to find a Midway Point around the Thwomps' area where he must Ground Pound another Time Switch to slow down the Thwomps and platforms above him. Mario/Luigi should quickly pass the Thwomps and climb the platforms to reach the top. Here, Mario/Luigi must battle Micro Topmen and Spiky Topmen to make a Spring Topman appear. Mario/Luigi should use the Spring Topman to reach the Power Star. If the Spring Topman is defeated, another one will appear.

C'mere, Topman

Galaxysmall 2922-1-

Mario luring a Spring Topman to Silver Gearmo.

This hidden star mission is unavailable until Mario receives a letter from Silver Gearmo saying he needs help in the Space Storm Galaxy. Mario should redo "Follow Me, Bob-omb" and make his way to the Topman Planet. Mario should search for Silver Gearmo, who is near the end of the planet to the left. Silver Gearmo will tell Mario he wants a Spiky Topman. Mario must lure a Spiky Topman, which appears out of nowhere near the beginning of the planet, to Silver Gearmo. However, he must avoid the Bob-ombs and other Topmen so that they don't make him fall into a Black Hole. Mario must also make sure the Spiky Topman does not touch the electric barriers. Once Mario lures the Spiky Topman into Silver Gearmo's trap of orange lights, he will receive a Power Star in exchange.

Trivia

  • This galaxy is somewhat based off the Dreadnought Galaxy and Buoy Base Galaxy from Super Mario Galaxy.
  • During the first mission, "Follow Me, Bob-omb", the galaxy shares the same music as the Battle Belt Galaxy, however, during "To the Top of Topman's Tower", it shares the music of the Buoy Base Galaxy from Super Mario Galaxy instead.
  • The Topman Tower Planet is nearly identical to the Buoy Base of the Buoy Base Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. It has nearly the same obstacles and enemies, and has a similar appearance. However, it is missing the large pool of water at the bottom of the Buoy Base.
