The Kongs bounce off a large, red, springy mushroom to a wooden platform near the letter O in Springy Spores.

Springy Spores is the thirty-fourth level in Donkey Kong Country Returns, as well as the sixth level of the Forest (Donkey Kong Country Returns). A Map Key from Cranky Kong's Shop is required to access the level. The level takes place in a forest full of springy mushrooms and other flora. The Kongs (Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong) need to use these springy mushrooms to cross gaps and get to higher places. This level brings back some of the vines from Vine Valley, and the large, grassy- turf-covered from Clingy Swingy. The Kongs need to perform small jumps or large jumps, depending on the obstacles around the vicinity. Enemies here include Frogoons, Tiki Buzzes, Flaming Tiki Buzzes, Shroom Chomps, "Bopapodami",and Tiki Goons. In Time Attack mode, a time of 1:35:00 is needed to get a gold medal, and a time of 1:38:00 for a silver medal, and a time of 1:43:00 for a bronze medal.

Overview

{C {C

The level begins with the Kongs landing on a floor. There is a dandelion that can be blown on for a Banana, just ahead. Right behind where the Kongs land is a hole in a tree. The Kongs can enter here to cause some parts of the tree to fall and reveal a room with a single Banana Coin in the air, which can be reached with a jump. Anyway, shortly after the dandelion, the Kongs can find a Tiki Goon approaching the Kongs. A large strange plant (also from the Jungle (Donkey Kong Country Returns)) that can be pounded on for a collectible, most likely. There is a higher part of floor immediately after the large strange plant. The Kongs can jump here, where they can find a gap. Two large, red, springy mushrooms with a Tiki Buzz flying between them can be seen in the gap. The Kongs can jump onto the first large, red, springy mushroom. Here, the Kongs can bounce over the Tiki Buzz onto the second large, red, springy mushroom. Here, there is a curved trail of Bananas that goes over some spikes. The Kongs can bounce on this second large, red, springy mushroom and head right to go over the spikes and land onto a third, large, red, springy mushroom. Here, the apes can find a Shroom Chomp with its mushroom tongue sticking out of its open mouth. The apes can bounce off this third large, red, springy mushroom and onto the Shroom Chomp's mushroom tongue. Here, the apes can find a small tree stump/log platform with a Frogoon who jumps up and down on it. The Kongs can bounce onto this small tree stump/log platform, and then defeat the Frogoon here by just jumping on it. Here, the apes can see two large, red, springy mushrooms. A Tiki Buzz flies above the first springy mushroom. The Kongs can jump onto the first large, red, springy mushroom and bounce onto the second large, red, springy mushroom. A third large, red, springy mushroom can be seen, however, before it is a Flaming Tiki Buzz that moves up and down, and it flies through the letter K of the K-O-N-G Letters. To get to the third large, red, springy mushroom and collect the letter K safely without losing a Heart, The Kongs should not jump to cause them to high bounce on the large, red, springy mushroom, but instead just get a low bounce and head right into the letter K. The Kongs can then hover onto the third large, red, springy mushroom. A floor with a dandelion that can be blown on for a Banana Bunch, a DK Barrel, a Tiki Goon walking about and a large strange plant that can be pounded on for a Banana Coin. The Kongs can bounce onto this floor. Here, they can use the DK Barrel to defeat the Tiki Goon that is nearing them. Immediately after the large strange plant, there is a slightly lower floor of spikes, however, a vine swings above this to help the Kongs cross this. The Kongs can jump and hold onto this vine. Shortly, another vine nears the Kongs that they should jump to. This next vine can take the Kongs to a large, red, springy mushroom with a Frogoon moving up and down using its inflated sack above it. A jump can take out the Frogoon. Right after this large, red, springy mushroom is another slightly lower floor full of spikes, and another vine swings above these

spikes to help the Kongs cross. The apes can grab onto this vine. They will near a floor with many Bananas above it, a large strange plant that can be pounded on for a Heart, and a Tiki Goon who walks on it. The Kongs can jump here. Near the left edge of this floor, which is near the spikes, a large wooden object with a crack in it can be found on the floor. If the Kongs pound here, they will land in an area below this floor that has two alleys and a red spot in the middle of it. The left alley has a Banana Coin in it, and the right alley is covered in leaves. If the Kongs head toward the leaves, they move away, revealing a hidden Puzzle Piece. The Kongs can then move into the red spot and pound it to cause a small, red mushroom to pop out of the spot. The Kongs can bounce on the small mushroom and move right to reach the other side of the floor. Shortly after the large strange plant, a gap with a Shroom Chomp in it can be seen. Also, a small platform with a Tiki Goon, a propeller-like plant that can be blown on for a Banana Coin, and many Bananas above it can be seen after the Shroom Chomp. So, the Kongs must jump to the Shroom Chomp's mushroom tongue and bounce and move right to reach this platform. After this floor, there is an area where three large, red, springy mushrooms surrounding a fungi platform with a Tiki Goon on it. Another fungi platform is above this first fungi platform. Anyway, there is a large, red springy mushroom beneath the first fungi platform that bounces you up, a large, red, springy mushroom to the left of the first fungi platform that faces right (which bounces you right), and a large, red, springy mushroom to the right of the first fungi platform that faces left (which bounces you left). Using the mushroom at below the first fungi platform or the large, springy mushroom to the left of the first fungi platform, the Kongs should bounce themselves onto this platform. Here, they can defeat the Tiki Goon and use the large, springy mushroom to the right (which points left diagonally) to bounce onto the second fungi platform, which is right above the first. Here, the Kongs will find a wooden platform attached to two ropes with two Tiki Goons on it above this second fungi platform, and a large, red, springy mushroom to the left of it. The mushroom points right diagonally, and can bounce the apes here. There is also a Puzzle Piece near some spikes directly above and to the left of this large, red, springy mushroom. The Kongs should use the mushroom to bounce onto the wooden platform attached to two ropes. After defeating those two Tiki Goons who think they "own" the platform, the apes can roll-jump off of it to the left and hover to reach the Puzzle Piece, then they can use the large, red, springy mushroom to get back to the wooden platform. At the edge of this platform, the apes can find another wooden platform attached to two ropes above it slightly to the right with two Tiki Goons on it and the letter O underneath it. To collect the letter, the apes must roll-jump underneath the platform into the letter, and get back onto the wooden platform after the first. Anyway, on this wooden platform, the apes can defeat the Tiki Goons and look ahead to find a large, red, springy mushroom in the gap after this. The apes can jump onto this bouncy mushroom to now find a small wooden platform attached to two ropes that holds a Banana Bunch. The platform is surrounded by two Frogoons who use their sacs to move up and down repeatedly. The apes should carefully bounce onto this small wooden platform. Here, they can find a large, red, springy mushroom next to a small tree stump/log that holds some spikes on it. There is another large, red, springy mushroom that also touches this small tree stump to the right of it. So, to get around, the apes should jump onto the first large, red, springy mushroom. Next, they should bounce off of this mushroom and head right to go over it and land right on the next large, red, springy mushroom which also touches the small tree stump/log. Here, the apes will find another large, red, springy mushroom directly after this first large, red, springy mushroom. The Kongs can bounce to this mushroom with ease, however, they should not bounce too high or they will touch a group of spikes on a ceiling above. Anyway, on this second large, red, springy mushroom of this area, the apes can find a third large, red, springy mushroom directly after it. The Kongs can bounce to this third large, red, springy mushroom with ease, however, a Frogoon moving up and down using its sac is placed between the second and third large, red, springy mushroom to make it more difficult to get to the next mushroom. Anyway, on this third large, red, springy mushroom, the apes can find a ceiling covered in grassy turf above them. They should bounce high in the air and cling onto the grassy turf. The Kongs will travel over an abyss, however, shortly after they start moving along the grassy turf, the primates must watch out for a Flaming Tiki Buzz that hovers up and down, which can hurt them if they come in contact with it. When the Flaming Tiki Buzz hovers downward, the apes can move past its area. Shortly after the Flaming Tiki Buzz, the grassy turf-covered ceiling ends above a large, red, springy mushroom. The apes should drop onto this large, red, springy mushroom. Here, they can find another large, red, springy mushroom close enough to be low bounced or hovered to. BUT! There are two collectibles above the gap between the two mushrooms: one is a special Banana Bunch that must be low bounced and moving right to reach, and a Heart above the special Banana Bunch that requires a high bounce and moving right to reach. BUT! There is a Flaming Tiki Buzz that hovers up and down above the same gap the collectibles are in, and it touches both of the collectibles. That means the Kongs can get hurt while trying to collect the collectibles. So, with that being said, when the Flaming Tiki Buzz moves the opposite direction of towards the collectible, the apes can high bounce to the Heart, or low bounce to the Banana Bunch. Anyway, on the other large, red, springy mushroom, the apes can find another grassy turf-covered ceiling. They can high bounce and cling here. Up here, the apes can notice a curved trail of grassy turf behind them (which is the direction going towards the Flaming Tiki Buzz with the two collectibles around it). If the apes follow this curved trail, they can find a Puzzle Piece they can jump to, however, the apes must jump and cling back onto the grassy turf, just so you know. Here, they should now continue to move forward on the grassy turf, where they can pass a Flaming Tiki Buzz. Shortly after passing this enemy, the grassy turf pass ends, and three Bopapodami can be seen over a gap. So, the objective for the Kongs now is to fall on the first Bopapodamus. From here, the primates can then bounce onto the second Bopapodamus. The letter N is in the air shortly after the third Bopapodami. So, the Kongs can bounce onto the third Bopapodamus and high bounce to the letter. They can then land on a floor with a DK Barrel, a large, strange plant that can be pounded on for a collectible, a dandelion that can be blown on for a collectible, and the Tutorial Pig hosting the first and only checkpoint in the level. However, there is a secret with those previous three Bopapodami. If the apes bounce on all three of them until they faint and land in the abyss (Bopapodami can take four bounces before they faint, the fourth bounce causes them to faint), a Puzzle Piece and several other collectibles fall and land on the floor after the third Bopapodamus, which holds the Tutorial Pig and the first and only checkpoint. Anyway, shortly after the apes pass the first checkpoint, the floor ends. A large object with a U-shaped grassy turf path can be found swinging over a gap. These objects are from the second level of the Forest (Donkey Kong Country Returns), Clingy Swingy, just like how the vines are from the first level of the Forest (Donkey Kong Country Returns), Vine Valley. Anyway, the Kongs should jump and cling onto the large object's grassy turf when it nears them. Here, they can move onto the other side of the large object using the grassy turf. Here, a large, red, springy mushroom can be found in the gap, just lying there. When the large object swings close enough, the apes can jump onto this large, red, springy mushroom. Here, the apes will notice another large object with a U-shaped grassy turf path on it. Using the this large, red, springy mushroom, the apes can bounce onto this second object and cling onto its grassy turf. A strange, vertical trail of Bananas is beneath the "vertex" of this large object's U-shaped grassy turf path. If the apes fall at the right time, they should land on the Bananas (which automatically collects them) and be caught by a skull Barrel Cannon, which can then fire the apes into a Bonus Room (skull Barrel Cannons/Auto-Fire Barrels destroy themselves after firing the Kongs). Anyway, the apes can ignore the strange, vertical trail of Bananas and move onto the other side of the large swinging object. The object will swing near a floor with two Tiki Goons and a large and small strange plant, which can both be pounded on for a collectible, most likely. The apes can jump here. At the end of this floor, a large, red, springy mushroom with a Tiki Buzz hovering over it can be seen above a gap as well as another large, red, springy mushroom after this first springy mushroom. The apes can jump here. Here, they must now bounce to the next large, red, springy mushroom. Here, a third large, red, springy mushroom can be found with a Tiki Buzz moving side to side above it. The apes can bounce here, but they must be aware of the ceiling covered in spikes above them. They must also beware of the Tiki Buzz which flies from both the next and the mushroom the Kongs are on back and forth. Anyway, the apes should low bounce to the next large, red, springy mushroom. There is another large, red, springy mushroom after this large, red, springy mushroom. The heroes can bounce here. The spiked ceiling ends here. Also, a Flaming Tiki Buzz flies up and down between the mushroom the apes are on, and the next large, red , springy mushroom. There is also a Banana Coin that the Flaming Tiki Buzz will fly through. Anyway, when the Flaming Tiki Buzz is hovering down, the apes can bounce to the next large, red, springy mushroom, and automatically collect the Banana Coin. On this next large, red, springy mushroom, a small platform with a Tiki Goon walking on it can be seen. There is also a small spiked ceiling between the small platform with the Tiki Goon and the mushroom the Kongs are on. The apes can low bounce onto this small platform. There is also a small strange plant that can be pounded on for a Heart. After this floor, a small, red mushroom can be found being held by an extremely thin log (or tree stump, whatever you want to call it). A Bopapodamus is after this small, red mushroom. The Kongs can jump here and then bounce onto the Bopapodamus. Another small, red mushroom is after this, with another Bopapodamus after the mushroom. From the first Bopapodamus, the Kongs should jump onto the small, red mushroom and bounce onto the second Bopapodamus. There is a Shroom Chomp after this Bopapodamus with its mouth open, revealing its small, red mushroom tongue. Quickly before the Bopapodamus faints, the heroes

should jump onto the Shroom Chomp's mushroom tongue, and bounce onto another Bopapodamus. Here, there is a spiked wall after this Bopapodamus and a large, red, springy mushroom underneath the spiked ceiling. Here is kinda tricky, but here's the trick. The Kongs should bounce on the Bopapodamus three times, or even cause it to faint, as long as they land on the large, red, springy mushroom. Here, the apes can find two Bopapodami after this large, red, springy mushroom. Now, the duo should bounce themselves onto the first Bopapodamus. Quickly, before the hippo "enemy" faints into the abyss, the heroes should bounce onto the second Bopapodamus. After the second Bopapodamus, there is a small tree stump/log with a small wooden platform attached to two ropes above it. The Kongs now have two routes to take. They can either high bounce onto the wooden platform or fall to the small tree stump/log. On either of the two, the heroes can find a large, red, springy mushroom, and two wooden platforms attached to two ropes, one above the other which holds the letter G, and one bigger than th e other. Now, if the Kongs are on the first wooden platform attached to two ropes (which can be reached by either high bouncing on the second Bopapodamus or pounding on the tree stump to cause a small, red mushroom to appear and then bounce on it), they can see the other wooden platform attached to two ropes far ahead, with a slightly diagonal trail of Bananas between the two. The Kongs must now roll-jump to the other wooden platform where they can collect the letter G. Anyway, if the apes take the tree stump route, they must now jump onto the large, red, springy mushroom. Now, using the large, red, springy mushroom, the apes can bounce themselves onto a large wooden platform attached to two ropes with two Tiki Goons that is beneath the wooden platform with the letter G. Anyway, either way, after this, the apes have now

entered a giant maze full of large, red mushrooms without their springs and three Shroom Chomps at the very bottom. Hearts, Bananas, Banana Bunches, Banana Coins, Tiki Buzzes, and even Puzzle Pieces can be found here as the apes try to climb to the top mushroom, which holds the level's Slot Machine Barrel. The Kongs can explore the ENORMOUS maze, but anyway, once they hit the Slot Machine Barrel, the level is complete.

Secrets

K-O-N-G Letters

  • K: Just before the first DK Barrel in the level, the letter K can be found between the last two mushrooms in an area where a Flaming Tiki Buzz flies. The apes should perform a low jump to reach it.
  • O: The letter O is under the second wooden platform attached to two ropes with the two Tiki Goons on it. The Kongs should roll-jump into the letter O and then land onto the wooden platform safely.
  • N: The heroes should perform a high-bounce off of the last Bopapodamus before the checkpoint to reach the letter N high in the air.
  • G: If the apes high bounce off the last Bopapodamus or pound on the last tree stump in the level (which creates a small, red mushroom they can bounce on), they can reach a small wooden platform attached to two ropes in the air. From here, the apes should roll-jump to another wooden platform just ahead that holds the letter G. This wooden platform attached to two ropes that holds the letter G can also be reached from one of the large, red mushrooms in the giant mushroom maze right after this.

Puzzle Pieces

  1. SpringySpores365-1-

The Kongs in a Bonus Room.

Once the heroes jump off of the third vine in the level, they can find a cracked, wooden object placed in the floor. If the apes pound on it, they will land on a floor with two alleys. If the apes go into the right alley, which is covered in leaves, they will find a Puzzle Piece.
  2. Immediately before the letter O, the primates can find the second Puzzle Piece next to a wall of spikes. To reach here, they should roll-jump off of the wooden platform attached to two ropes just after it, and hover to it.
  3. When the primates reach the first area that has climable grassy turf in it, they should climb onto the second set of grassy turf that is placed immediately after a Flaming Tiki Buzz. If they climb to the left on this grassy turf covered ceiling and reach the end, they can find a Puzzle Piece parallel to them that they can jump to.
  4. The Kongs should cause all three Bopapodami just before the checkpoint to faint. When this is done, a Puzzle Piece and a set of Banana Coins will fall to the floor with the checkpoint on it.
  5. On the second large, swinging object with the U-shaped grassy turf path, the apes can find a strange, vertical trail of Bananas beneath the object's "vertex" (bottom). If the apes fall through this trail, they will be caught by a skull Barrel Cannon which fires the apes into a Bonus Room. Here, the heroes must shoot through two Barrel Cannons while collecting 80 Bananas and two Banana Coins in a time limit of thirty seconds to make a Puzzle Piece appear. However, an Auto-Fire Barrel moves up and down in the center of the area and can fire the apes out of the Bonus Room, so it must be avoided at all costs until the Puzzle Piece appears (because the Auto-Fire Barrel is needed to reach the Puzzle Piece).
  6. After the letter G, the Kongs should high bounce high in the air into the left side of giant maze of large, red mushrooms with no springs to reach the sixth Puzzle Piece.
  7. In the bottom-center part of the giant maze of large, red mushrooms with no springs, the duo can find the seventh and final Puzzle Piece above a Shroom Chomp's mushroom tongue.
