The Ice Climbers in The Glacial Peak.

The Glacial Peak is the twenty first level in The Subspace Emissary. It is an icy level having mostly icy features. the Glacial Peak features icy floors, ice crystals, ice cubes that move back and forth, an ENORMOUS icicle in a hidden Door, golden platforms that move in and out of the screen, flags that act as checkpoints, stopping the player from dropping through that floor with the flag, and more. The Glacial Peak is a quite large level slightly larger than the previous Outside the Ancient Ruins, when it comes to the number of parts.


Plot

When the player plays this level for the first time, the first cutscene plays, showing the Great Fox and the Battleship Halberd battling each other, shooting blasts one after another. At the bottom of the mountain nearby, Marth, Ike, the Pokemon Trainer, and Lucas look at the battle, while Meta Knight, after looking at this, sees the Ice Climbers climbing the mountain. He decides to follow them to try and get the Halberd back from the Subspace Army. They venture up the mountain, which is based from the original Ice Climber with ladders, and floors with flags. The climbers eventually arrive at the top of the mountain where Lucario is meditating, waiting for the Ice Climbers and Meta Knight. Lucario jumps from where he was standing, and is ready to fight Meta Knight. Both of the Ice Climbers have a scared look on their face. Here, the player must pick who to play as to defeat Lucario. At the end of the fight, the winner revives the loser, from their Trophy state, and Lucario and Meta Knight shake hands. This is soon interrupted by the Battleship Halberd, which has the Great Fox captive, and the Battleship Halberd knocks the Great Fox into the mountainside, destroying it, and creating an earthquake-like explosion. This makes the Ice Climbers fall to the bottom, where Marth, Ike, the Pokemon Trainer, and Lucas are located because they were watching the battle from the edge. Lucario and Meta Knight climb on the Great Fox, and then onto the Battleship Halberd, so Meta Knight can take it back. The Ice Climbers and Lucario then join your team.


Walkthrough

When the player begins, he will be on a floor with two platforms above it and a brown mountain in the background. Two Primids will fall to the player. After they are defeated, two more Primids will appear. After they are defeated, the player should jump on the platforms above him. He will then see more platforms. The player should jump on each one, until he reaches a concrete floor with a Shellpod, blue flag and a wooden platform above the floor. Those flags act like checkpoints, for they mean you cannot drop through the floor they are on. Anyway, up on the concrete floor, the player should defeat the Shellpod there. After it is defeated, the player should jump on the wooden platform above the concrete floor. A Boom Primid will fall to the ground, or whereever the player is. After it is defeated, the player should jump to another wooden platform. A Boom Primid will fall here (unless it has fallen from there already). After it is defeated, the player should notice the floors sticking out of the wall on opposite sides; the one on the right having a yellow ladder. The player should jump to the floor on the right and climb the ladder. The ladder is very short, for its end can be seen when the player jumps on the floor on the right. Up here, the player should move up a slope to find a Shellpod and a Primid. After they are defeated, a Boom Primid will approach the player. After they are defeated, the player should climb the yellow ladder. Shortly after climbing, the player should notice a pathway on his right. The player should jump here to find a Turquoise Cube. When the player busts open the Cube, spikes will extend out of the wall and either push or crush the player depending on where the player is. Because of this, the player should quickly bust open the cube and collect its collectible (s). Then he must get back on that ladder! If the player fails to do this, he should not get upset. There is always a next time, and the player can return here and try again. The Turquoise Cube gives the player a Trophy or two Stickers. Anyway, the player should climb the ladder to the top. At the top is a small part of concrete floor and the rest is regular floor. There are spikes on the ceiling, and a blue flag here. A Boom Primid should run to the player. Then two Primids should fall from an upper area on the player's right. There is also a Bucculus in the ground. After the enemies are defeated, two more Primids will approach from behind him, where the ladder he climbed is. After they are defeated, the player should climb a short yellow ladder. Its top is visible. At the top, the player should notice a higher part of floor made of rock with a lower part of floor that is covered with spikes. He should also notice spikes on the ceiling. The player should jump on the higher part of floor while avoiding the spikes on the ceiling. He should notice a Boom Primid on a higher part of rock floor right after the lower part of floor with the spikes. The player should jump over the lower part of floor with the spikes, and jump here to the Boom Primid. He should defeat the Boom Primid. If it has seen the player it would've jumped and fall on the spikes on the lower part of floor, and defeat himself. After it is defeated, the player should jump on a higher part of floor with spikes on his right. There are also more spikes on the ceiling. A higher part of floor is touching the spikes and a wooden platform is above it. The player should avoid the spikes on the floor and ceiling, and jump on the higher part of floor. Now, the player should jump on the wooden platform. Above the player is a concrete floor with a flag that is half blue, half green. A Poppant is walking in this floor and will soon pass the player. Now, the player must act like a wolf or tiger who spy on their "prey" and catch them. Say the Poppant is your prey. Wait for the Poppant to walk underneath you. When it does so, jump and attack it with up aerial attacks. Now, on the floor, a Ticken, which wasn't heard before, should charge at the player. The player should defeat the Ticken. After it is defeated, the player should eat the Food the Poppant left behind after it was defeated. The player should notice moving golden platforms above the player moving in and out of the screen. When one golden platform comes near, the player should jump on it. A Floow will near the player. The player should quickly defeat it before the platform goes off screen. After it is defeated, the player should jump onto another golden platform. A rock platform in the middle of the screen will come into view. Two more Floows will approach the player. After they are defeated, the player should jump on the wooden platform and wait for more golden platforms to near the player. The player should climb them until he reaches a concrete floor with a yellow flag and a Barrel Cannon above the floor. The player should jump into the Barrel Cannon. The player has the ability to shoot himself in this Barrel Cannon. The player should shoot himself to a Barrel Cannon above him on his right that is rotating in a 360 degree angle. In this Barrel Cannon, the player can shoot himself. The player should shoot himself to a Barrel Cannon above him on his left, facing up. This Barrel Cannon will automatically shoot the player to a stationary Barrel Cannon above it that is pointing up, slightly diagonally. The player has the ability to shoot himself in this Barrel Cannon. The player should shoot himself at a Barrel Cannon above him that is moving from one side of to the other. If the player succeeds, he will enter the Barrel Cannon. However, if he fails to land in the Barrel Cannon, he must repeat the process. Anyway, inside this Barrel Cannon, the player can shoot himself. The player must wait for the Barrel Cannon he is in to show another Barrel Cannon above the player on his right. This Barrel Cannon is rotating back and forth in a 180 degree angle. The player should shoot himself when the Barrel Cannon he is in is underneath the other Barrel Cannon rotating in a 180 degree angle. If he succeeds, he will land in the Barrel Cannon. If he fails to land in the Barrel Cannon, he will have to repeat the process. Inside this Barrel Cannon, the player can shoot himself. The player should shoot himself into a Barrel Cannon moving side to side, rotating in a 360 degree angle. If he succeeds he will be in the Barrel Cannon. If he fails to land in the Barrel Cannon, the player must repeat the process. Anyway, inside the Barrel Cannon, the player can shoot himself. The player should shoot himself onto a concrete floor with a yellow flag. If he succeeds, he will be on the floor. However, if he fails, he must repeat the process. Up on this floor, two Tickens on opposite sides, will approach the player. After they are defeated, two more Tickens, once again, on opposite sides, will approach the player. After they are defeated, the player should jump on a wooden platform above the floor on his right. Now, the player should jump on a wooden platfrom slightly higher than the platform the player is on, on his left. When the player jumps here, three Floows will near him. After they are defeated, two more Floows will approach the player. After they are defeated, one more Floow will approach the player. After it is defeated, the player should jump onto a wooden platform on his right that is slightly higher than the platform he is on. Here, the player should jump on a wooden platform on his left that is slightly higher than the platform he is on. Here, the player should jump to a rock platform with a Door slightly to the right above him. The player should enter the Door. The player is now in an area full of ice crystals and ice cubes. The ice crystals act like spikes, for they damage the player when touched, and can defeat enemies who touch them. The player will be on a slightly icy floor with a long platform above him. This platform is just like the moving platform in The Ruins with the purple crystals, only the crystals are icy and the platform moves up, not down unlike the one in The Ruins. Anyway, the player should jump on the long platform. It will move up. It will pass two ice crystals on different sides. A Sword Primid will drop on the platform. After it is defeated, another Sword Primid will fall on the platform. Shortly, two more Sword Primids will fall on the platform. After the enemies are defeated, the platform will reach a ceiling with ice crystals and will move up diagonally. The player can land on the floor beneath him, but will mostly be damaged by the many ice crystals there. When the platform passes the second ice crystals on the ceiling, a Floow will approach the player. After it is defeated, another one will shortly approach the player. After it is defeated, another Floow will approach the player. After it is defeated, the ceiling will end, and the platform will go up, once again. When it does so, a Floow will approach the player. After it is defeated, two Floows will near the player. After they are defeated, the platform will soon reach another ceiling and will move up diagonally, once again. A Sword Primid will fall on the platform, while another one gets damaged by ice crystals, by falling too early. After the enemies are defeated, the ceiling will soon end and go up. It will slow down and stop beneath two platforms on opposite sides that are sticking out of the wall. An orange arrow is pointing up, telling the player to go up. The screen will start side-scrolling up. The player should jump on the platform on the right that is sticking out of the wall. An ice cube will come out of the platform on the left. The player should jump on it, and then jump on the platform's top above it. Another ice cube is coming out of the wall, but it will go back in very soon. Soon the screen will show another part of that ice cube moving back. It will open up a platform to jump to. On top of this platform, a Primid will fall to earth. Ice Cubes will come out of the wall on the player's right. A Turquoise Cube will come into view. After the Primid is defeated, the player should wait for an ice cube to come out of the platform he is on beneath him. Quickly, he must then jump and bust open the Turquoise Cube. It will usually give the player two Maxim Tomatoes. After they are used, the player should jump back onto the platform the Primid fell on. Here, he must jump up to a slightly icy platform above him. A Primid will fall here. A giant ice cube will come out of the wall. The player should quickly defeat the Primid and jump on this giant ice cube. Now, he must quickly jump onto a floor extending out of a wall, for the ice cube he is on will go back into the wall. On this floor, an ice cube will soon come out of the wall and a higher part of floor comes into view. An Orange Cube behind the ice cube will also come into view. The player should quickly jump onto the higher part of floor and fall to the other side of the cube. The player should quickly bust open the Orange Cube and collect its collectible before he gets crushed by the ice cube. Now, the player should jump back onto the higher part of floor. An ENORMOUS ice cube will emerge out of the wall on the player's right, and will collide with the wall on the other side. To avoid being crushed, the player should either jump, double jump, and up-special on a floor the player can't even see yet because the screen hasn't shown it yet (this will damage the player by 1% until the floor comes into view), or jump from wooden platform to wooden platform until he lands on a floor with a Door in midair. When the floor comes into view, four Metal Primids will fall on the floor. The player must quickly defeat them, for a spiked ceiling will collide into the floor, KOing you and your enemies. It is harder to escape this on higher difficulties, so the player should ignore the Metal Primids and quickly enter the Door before he gets crushed to avoid the spiked ceiling on higher difficulties such as intense. After the player enters the Door, he will be on a floor with a Barrel Cannon above him pointing up. A rock mountain is close up in the background and an orange arrow to the right of the Barrel Cannon is pointing up. The player should jump into the Barrel Cannon. It will automatically shoot the player up. When it does so, look for a blue light to appear. When you see such, jump right to land on brick blocks on a wooden platform covering a Door. Using the down smash attacks or down special moves, the player should break the bricks and enter the Door. The player will be inside a dark room with a wooden fence in the background. The player will be on a platform extending out of the wall. The player should move and fall off the platform onto the floor. Two Primids and a Boom Primid will near the player. This may be the only hidden door in The Subspace Emissary to have enemies in it (excluding Jyks). After the enemies are defeated, the player should hit the switch on the floor to turn the light on. The switch will reactivate and darken the room quickly after it has been hit. The player should move right to find a Turquoise Cube. The player should bust it open. It would give the player two Stickers or a Trophy. After collecting the collectible (s), the player should jump on the platform and exit the room. Outside, the player will fall onto the wooden platform with the Door he just entered leading to the dark room. The player should run off the platform and fall to the ground. When he touches the floor, he should jump into the Barrel Cannon. The Barrel Cannon will automatically shoot the player up. The player should ignore the Door leading to the dark room, and when he starts to fall, he should double jump and up-special to a wooden platform with a yellow ladder. The player should climb the ladder to the top. At the top, the player will be on a concrete floor with a yellow flag and two ladders. Two more ladders can be seen above the floor: one attached to a ceiling, and one on a platform above the concrete floor. Here, two Glices will roll by the player. After they are defeated, the player should climb the ladder on the ceiling and fall back onto the concrete floor. Two more Glices will roll by the player. After they are defeated, the player should climb the ladder on the ceiling, in which he just fell off of, and jump onto the floor above the concrete floor with the yellow ladder. Up here, is a large ice floor with a Glice rolling on it. The player should climb the ladder and fall onto the ice floor. The player should defeat the Glice there. The player should notice a rock floor with a yellow ladder and a Glice rolling on it. Quickly, the player must jump on this floor and wait for the Glice to roll by. After it is defeated, the player should climb the ladder and defeat a Glice on an icy floor and a Glice on a rock floor. However, the player must be careful, for two Water Jyks are moving side to side here. After they are defeated, the player should climb the ladder to the top. At the top, the player will be on a wooden platform attached to two floors going down a slope. Above the player is a concrete platform with a yellow flag. The player should jump to this concrete floor. On the concrete floor, when the player jumps, he will enter a forced battle against five Shaydas and two Glices. After the enemies are defeated, the player should jump up to a wooden platform. Then he must jump up to another one, above him in the middle. Now, the player should jump up to a red platform. After doing so, the player should jump up to a concrete floor connected to regular floor on the right with a yellow flag. Above this floor, is a slightly icy floor with a Glice rolling on it. A Shaydas is teleporting here, and a platform that the player can use to jump on the slightly icy floor with the Glice is to the right of the floor above it. Wind is blowing here and the part before a concrete platform. After the enemies are defeated, another Glice and a Spaak should appear. The player should run to platform to the right, jump on it, and then jump onto the slightly icy floor. Here, the player should defeat the enemies. After they are defeated, the player should jump on a platform above the slightly icy floor. He should notice a long floor with a Door on his right. The player should jump here. A Shaydas will appear. After it is defeated, the player should enter the Door. The player will be in a room with a platform with a Turquoise Cube on it, a platform above the Turquoise Cube's platform with three Metal Boxes, a platform in which the player is standing on holding the Door leading outside, and an ENORMOUS icicle that goes from the ceiling into the water. In fact, its top is not seen! Here, the player should jump up to the Turquoise Cube's platform, and bust open the Cube. It should give the player two Maxim Tomatoes or two Heart Containers. After they have been used, the player should jump to the Metal Boxes' platform which is above the platform the player is on (the Turquoise Cube's platform). The player should stand on the edge of the platform and hit a Metal Box with a standard attack (other attacks will make the player use all three of them and have none to use if he needs to try again, forcing him to go outside and reenter here) to become metal. Now, the player should dive into the water, which he can do by just falling off the platform. When he does so, he will go low into the water. The player should swim to the other side of the ENORMOUS icicle and jump to a gray ladder. The player should climb the ladder to its top. At the top is another ladder on a floor to the right of the player and two Stickers or a Trophy is to the left of the player on a broken part of the ENORMOUS icicle. After collecting the collectible (s), the player should climb the next ladder on his right to the top. Up here is a platform, a blue Bomb Block and its blocks to the far left of the player, an Orange Cube is on top of the ENORMOUS icicle. The player should bust open the Orange Cube and collect its collectible (s). Now, the player should hit the blue Bomb Block to reveal a tunnel down to the Metal Boxes' platform. The player should drop through the Metal Boxes' platform and Turquoise Cube's platform, and exit out the room. Outside, a Shaydas will teleport and approach the player. After it is defeated, the player should jump, double jump, and up-special to some wooden platforms. A Spaak will appear. After it is defeated, two Towtows on a concrete floor will wake up and roar. The player should jump to the concrete floor. The Wind will stop blowing here, and the angry Towtows will charge at the player while a Spaak will fire electricity pieces. After they are defeated, another Spaak will near the player. After it is defeated, the player should jump from wooden platforms to icy platforms. While jumping up, Spaaks will try to defeat (KO) the player. After they are defeated, the player should climb to the top. At the top is a concrete floor with a red and white flag and a Door. The player will enter a battle against Lucario. The player fights him on icy floors with icy mountains in the background. Items will fall to help defeat Lucario. After he is defeated, the level is complete. When the player enters this last door of the level leading to the battle with Lucario, he will either fight Meta Knight or Lucario, depending on who won the battle after the level is played again.
